Anyone listening to Sessions' confirmation hearing?

An example is Cory Booker, who is actually going to testify against Sessions - a total break with tradition because senators don't testify against another senator who has been nominated. Booker is planning on running in 2020 and I think that is behind his decision to testify against him. IMO, it will backfire against Booker.

Poor move on his part. It will backfire on him.

No. It will not. It will unite minorities, most women, and all people who now loathe Trump and the 50,000,000 who will loathe his administration even though Trump will have been impeached, his lapdog Pence will also be loathed.

I think you should contribute to Jill Stein to lobby for Trump's impeachment!

There is something truly slimy and weird about Booker. He just comes across as so pandering and inauthentic. Obama oozes charm, smarts, charisma, and stern optimism. Booker is the opposite.

Booker is such a phony. John Lewis is also testifying against Sessions - he's a much more suitable and authentic voice. Booker needs to shut his dumb trap.

I pray to god the Democrats don't nominate Booker.

Same here. John Lewis has gravitas. Booker is a lightweight in comparison.

In fairness to Booker, his main political method is just following what the Dems have been doing for decades and what has made them drive off a cliff. But given this stunt, I think it obvious he doesn't get the game is up.

Which is why I'm disappointed with Booker. He's obviously a very smart guy with impeccable credentials. It takes a brilliant person to navigate the human relations to get from Newark to the Ivy League to a Rhodes scholarship and eventually the U.S. Senate. That person needs the uncanny knack of keeping his ear to the prevailing winds and understanding the electorate.

It seems he's lost that ability. If anything, I'm worried that his grandstanding will backfire in a big way. Let John Lewis take his final curtain call....this may be his biggest moment.

Anyone else think he's too old to do the job? He's 70, and looks much older.

I have no confidence that he can work long hours. This gig entails far more work and stress than congress.

Sessions is a dyed-in-the-wool lying, bigoted racist.

Why? Because he has a Southern accent?

No, because he's a racist. He supported gutting the Voting Rights Act in 2013. He has a record of blocking black judicial nominees. He unsuccessfully prosecuted black civil rights activists for voter fraud in 1985 ? including a former aide to Martin Luther King, Jr. A year later, he was rejected for a federal judgeship over allegations he called a black attorney “boy,” suggested a white lawyer working for black clients was a race traitor and referred to civil rights groups as “un-American” and trying to “force civil rights down the throats of people who were trying to put problems behind them.”

What stunt are you referring to?

He may be old, but at least he's not black.

Sorry, just going to a stupid extreme to show how much of a BIGOT you are.

Not a bigot.

Many law firms have mandatory retirement in late 60s or 70. There's a reason for that.

Time after time, the democrats on that committee sat silent as Obama violated the law repeatedly over the past 8 years.

They have no basis now to suddenly speak out against the nomination of Senator Sessions.

Cory Booker is a total phony. He has lost my support for sure if he ever decides to run for president.

Booker partnered with Sessions last year on civil rights and this is what he said at the time - he is now going to testify against Sessions:

But less than a year ago, Booker was sharing "one of my life's greatest moments" with Sessions, speaking at a ceremony awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the "foot soldiers" who had participated in the 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala.

Booker coauthored the legislation granting the award with Sessions.

"This is truly one of my life's greatest moments," Booker said at the February 2016 ceremony. "I am humbled to be able to participate here and pay tribute to some of the extraordinary Americans whose footsteps paved the way for me and my generation. I feel blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions in being the Senate sponsors of this important award. This award is one of the highest civilian honors our nation can bestow, and it is clearly fitting to give this tribute to the courageous foot soldiers."

If Sessions goes back on anything he said in his confirmation hearing, can we go after him for perjury?
