| Is this thread about the Sessions confirmation hearing or HRC? |

He opposes closing of Gitmo
Someone is now screaming |
| Man and woman hollering something about Gitmo were just removed. Couldn't hear what they were saying though. |
|
Graham just baited the protestors (or paid instigators) regarding Gitmo. Hardy laughter by Graham by their departure.
Sessions claims little real knowledge of the situation with Russia. |
|
Lindsey Graham just admitted Russia did interfere in our election and asks how Sessions feels about it.
Sessions is blah blahing about international politics and throwing in China as a red herring. Sessions says any intercession in another country's process of democracy raises concerns but it's pretty much on defense and State department to react. |
Could someone explain to me how that becomes such a big issue for a hearing like this? How does that get to be so important to someone? |
|
Graham is trying to bond with Sessions over unfairly being called a Southern racist
More yelling now |
| Thought Leahy seemed a little addled. Don't think he really wants to oppose Sessions. |
| Sessions says 1986 accusations were inaccurate caricatures he was improperly prepared to handle well and it was painful. He knows racism is wrong and we can't go back and he will maintain equality for every citizen. |
| As a Vermonter, it pains me to agree. |
| * about Leahy |
| Sessions also pointed out in his opening statement that the Voter fraud case he lost was brought by African Americans against other African Americans. |
This sounds reasonably accurate and probably truthful. |
OP here. I voted Hillary. Had some major misgivings about Session. I can admit he is mostly saying all the right things. Can'tell if we're getting zoomed or the ultra conservatives who thought they were getting in a backwater racist. |
| Durbin is hitting him hard on mandatory minimum sentences. Sessions said that isn't the purview of Atty General, that Congress passes those and he would follow the laws Congress passes. Touche. |
