She's always been imperfect, as have lorelai and Emily. But many of us continue to identify and like them in spite of their character flaws.

They're all real and messy and uncomfortable at times.

I have very few complaints except for the
Musical (liked it, but could have been shorter. However, adore Sutton Foster and all the other Bunheads cameos-Sasha, Ginny!) and lack of more Lane.

I was never invested in which dude Rory would end up with so that prob helped.

Also loved the Arrested Development shout outs with Paul.

Who are these people that can identify with them?
I haven't met one yet. I knew many who could identify with the original characters a single mom making her own way, doing the best she can and sometimes at odds with her parents or the teenage girl that's smart and naive and occasionally makes a poor choice.

Yhe spoiled 1% ers that are completely self-involved , too good for any kind of work and only thinking of themselves not so relatable for most adult women.

Really? I find it very relatable. Like the PP I am the same age as rory (a few years younger), went to a private school, am a wasp, and lived in connecticut for a while. The show to me is like coming home.

It sounds like you are a spoiled 1% the rest of us don't crash on friends couches, play the part of the OW and not work because the job available to us are beneath us at 32.

I you really think Rory is relatable to most American women of her age bracket you really need to broaden your horizons at your age.

I'm not ashamed of being a WASP. if someone can find The Wire or whatever else relatable, why can't young, private school educated, white girls relate to Gilmore Girls? Get off your high horse.

You seem to think the vast majority of the world relates to that. They don't. That's not a high horse. That is reality. Broaden your horizons.

No, I don't. I was speaking for myself and the other PP relates to it too. Get. Over. It.

I have nothing to get over, you have trouble accepting that the life you lead and portrayed by Rory i truly pathetic for a 32 year old woman. You are under 30 so I'll forgive you and hope by the time you hit 32 you know better.

Wow. Take a Xanax. It's a GD tv show, for Pete's sake! Get a grip!

+1

PP sounds truly unhinged. While I don't exactly relate the 32 yr. old vagabond Rory, I did very much relate to her younger character. The private school, wealthy family was familiar to me and I'm not ashamed to say that. PP needs to get a grip and realize that while GG may not represent her reality, there are plenty of people for whom it does.

I've been on the sidelines of this dust up between these pps, but since this latest pp insists on having the last word (by reviving a dead argument), I'll point out that the unapologetic private school WASPy pp (who I previously had no beef with) is re-writing history (of this thread) to make her argument.
It went something like this:
WASPy pp: oh, I can relate to Rory and her life. We're about the same age -- like going home again.
Annoyed pp: WTH? Who on earth can relate to this unemployed, uncharitable, arrogant vagabond 32 yr old Rory?
WASPy pp: ugh, some of us can relate. Get real.
Annoyed pp: oh, girl, I'm real

.
.
.

WASPy pp: CHILLAX! TAKE A XANAX! I will not apologize! I said I related to young Rory, not 32 yr old Rory! Geeeez.

(Not true, but ok, whatevs).

Yawn. You're just making an already silly tangent even more ridiculous. Let it go...

Said the WASPy I'm not apologizing I'm not wrong but I gotta have the last word pp. Yep, let it go.

Who cares about Rory: Emily Gilmore won this revival!!

That last episode, with her telling off the DAR, moving to the beach, and becoming a museum volunteer describing gruesome history of whaling techniques? That was amazing.

Eh I didn't think it was that great, they could've done so much better for her storyline . Kelly Bishop was of course phenomenal though so that saved it

I went back to the beginning and watched all the best Richard/Emily scenes. Love Kelly miss Edward H so much in GG.

I'm the immediate PP and had nothing to do with the prior conversation. Ugh.

I loved her story arc. I especially loved the scene when Lorelai called her from CA to tell her that memory of her dad. Emily's reaction made my heart burst.

I did not appreciate these two the first time around.

They definitely wrote a better story line for her than for Rory.

I really thought Rory's storyline was going to be her working as a press secretary for Michelle Obama and now, at 32 looking at past loves to see if anyone was her "one that got away."

Yah. I did not really get it. So her husband actually made her miserable? Is that the point? And why was she not attending her daughters wedding?

I did like that she became warner to,other people, but I thought they took a real jump there at the end.

I was really looking forward to it and enjoyed it overall, despite its flaws. I was happy to FINALLY see L & L get married, but it would have been more realistic if they had married years ago and had another kid or two, since they both said they wanted more kids when they were initially together. If they wanted to have them childless and looking into surrogacy, it would have been much more believable to paint them as struggling with fertility vs. just never getting around to discussing it until their late 40s. Also, the wedding scene was a little marred for me because there was so much hype surrounding "the final four words"-- I was worried someone would die or they wouldn't actually end up married or something.

I enjoyed Emily's storyline and watching KB perform it. I saw the family living with her as a way for her to combat loneliness and showing that she was changing in some ways.

Rory-- ugh. As someone said, she didn't need to be extraordinary, and her professional flops were understandable, but she was just not painted as a good person. The Paul gag seemed mean spirited in the first place, but to drag it out to the last 5 minutes of the revival? Come on. So pointless. And she didn't just sleep with Logan once in a moment of weakness; they had an ongoing physical and emotional affair with apparently ZERO remorse from either one of them.

Regarding Rory and Logan, I found myself really wanting them to get together, and it seemed a little ridiculous that they didn't. They are supposedly in their 30s and seem to love each other, and Logan isn't married yet and doesn't seem excited about marrying Odette-- why not just be together??

Regarding the idea that Rory is pregnant as a surrogate working for Paris, this makes the conversation with Christopher make no sense.

I actually thought the musical was so bad it was funny, if a little long. The hiking bit ran way too long, as did the L&DB part.

Overall, I enjoyed seeing everyone back again and liked L & L's ending, but Rory grew up to be such a disappointment, and her ending at the S7 was MUCH more satisfying than this. (Also, you'd think considering how she came to exist, she'd be pretty careful about unwanted pregnancy, but I realize it can happen still.)

She was planning to attend the "real" wedding the next day; they just didn't invite her to the spontaneous middle-of-the-night wedding.

I actually thought the opposite-- when Rory asked if he was really going to marry Odette, if he'd said no, they would have gotten together for real. I saw that as her initiating it and him declining (which was annoying).

and I saw it as him waiting for her to take it a step further by saying don't marry her. She didn't. He already proposed once and I can see why he'd need to hear a grand declaration of love from Rory. She's never done that but if she did, i think he'd drop anything to be with her.
