DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| Yes, we just moved here. That means I get to ask all the rube questions and help get this thread to 11. Yay? |
You did it!! You got us to 11! |
| As a Petworth SSMA family, we're actually very happy with its current location. If it had a playground I'd be totally satisfied. |
This. Also, there are tier 1 schools in Anacostia in case you didn't know. Now it may not be highly regarded by you for whatever reason, but the charter board does not assess schools via DCUM popularity but performance. There are schools in Anacostia that outperform many HRCS in ward 5. |
| I did know there were tier 1 schools in anacostia. I looked at the list of tier 1 schools. My point was more... concentrating a ton of montessori schools in one ward seems bad. Concentrating a bunch of charter schools that all attract affluent people in one ward also seems bad--for the local schools. |
You act like it's intentional, it's real estate. I'd rather have it in ward 5 (I am ward 5) than any other ward. At least it's more central. |
Meant to say I am in ward 4 |
| My money is on Two Rivers. They are waiting until after the count day to avoid the exodus. |
Huh? You think two rivers is closing or moving whole school to Young? Do you know how large 2R is and how small Lee is? |
| Oops you are correct. Meant Tree of Life. |
good god! please no. I'd prefer some out of the way unsafe neighborhood. that location is unhealthy for little 3 year old lungs |
But they can't wait that long to announce. isn't count day end of October? |
Your theory cannot be correct bc count day is in October & they said they will make an announcement at the end of the month. |
exodus there would be. I imagine the whole school would turn over. I really can't imagine they would do this. |
| So Lee shouldn't have ToL, but it's okay for a less influential high SES charter? Sounds like no matter what school gets put there, they should not be there. |
