I don't think Vaerys and Littlefinger are in cahoots. I think Littlefinger has his own agenda.
I think Vaerys was sincere in an earlier season when he said that it was more important to preserve the kingdom (or something to that effect). I think he kind of sees that individual ambitions aren't as important as some kind of maintenance of a peaceful society. And sometimes maintaining peace means not everyone gets what they want. The director has said that Jon Snow is not coming back. But it seems odd that Melisandre comes back, after several scenes where it is clear she suspects Jon Snow is more than a bastard. And the Lord of Light can bring people back from the dead. I don't care if Jon Snow comes back, but I'll be angry if something bad happens to Ghost. The direwolves (and the dragons) are pretty much my favorite part of the show. Without them, it's just a zombie flick/slash humans conspiring for power series. If I want political intrigue and conflict over succession and crowns, I'll watch a historical drama. I feel like there hasn't been enough direwolf scenes. |
| Aren't there references to Varys as the spider and white walkers riding spiders? |
Funny, the dragons and wolves are probably my least favorite things. I could definitely do without them, and really without all of the fantasy aspects of the series. It's the characters and their story lines that I find interesting. |
| If the ladies have no excuses, I'm curious as to what the men's excuses could be? |
? |
Correct, body double was used because she is currently pregnant. Pretty snarky PP. |

The red woman had better have just killed herself off so John Snow can be resurrected!!
Happy to see Sansa finally catch a break. |
Agreed! |
And Brienne of Tarth, who just wanted to save one of those godd@mn girls! |
| Why would the death of the Red Woman permit Jon Snow to be resurrected? I would think she'd need to be the one to resurrect him (and thus she'd need to be alive). |
I wondered if the magic she was using to retain her youth could be used to get him to return to life. In the words of Miracle Max, maybe he's only "mostly dead." |
| She gave up her youth and beauty to bring him back? |
I think she gave up her life. But we don't know anything for certain. |
| They are really drawing out the suspense about Jon Snow's resurrection!! In the books, Thoros of Myr gave Beric Dondarrion the "Kiss of Life" to resurrect him by breathing in fire and blowing it into Beric's mouth. He said it's the standard death ritual in his religion, but it never worked before. Presumably it started working because the dragons were born, like other magic. Not sure why Melissandre can't do the same for Jon, but it's cool to know she's really ancient! |
| I thought a couple seasons ago she brought someone else back to life who had "king's blood" in him, and so I figured this is how we would find out that Jon Snow is the son of Ned Stark's sister and Rhagar Targaeryn (I don't know if that is true, but it has been my guess) because Melissandre would be able to resurrect Jon. |
