| First world problems. I have a feeling if you run in and out an use a stall if you see grannies and other people around with same age girls, you will have no problem. |
You change the kids on the car out of their wetsuits in the middle of the winter. |
So, you put sweats on top of a wet suit....ok. |

Does your son understand privacy? Did he stare or focus on your face, his shoes, whatever? I think that's the difference. My son's a giant 5yo too. We will change in front of one another or visit the potty together when out at a restaurant, but he knows to avert his eyes until I have my nightgown on or while I tinkle. He expects the same and will yell at his sister, "My privacy!" if she gawks while he stands peeing. It's a teachable moment when people freak out. "See how important privacy is, my love?" |
The outdoor pool we go to is in md and it is not new or fancy. |
So many meanies here, this thread is getting as good as the NY urban moms!

Agreed. Funny how you do not see men complaining. My husband said there are several dads with girls when he goes. He never thought about it nor cares. |
It isn't for me...it is for my 9+ year old daughter who cares. I have a feeling your husband would be complaining if his daughter complained to him. She prefers NOT to be seen naked by the boys who attend her school. You seriously can't comprehend that? |
| This is so ridiculous. There are certainly going to be kukoo bitches on DCUM who think it's weird or wrong or whatever and are so bored / needy / whatever that they're angry over little boys in the women's room. These women are wrong and crazy but life is filled with nutters, OP, just do your thing and know that, despite their presence here on DCUM, most of the world is normal. Move around the crazy lady, ignore as needed, and go on with your life. |
Sure. My car doors are closed. It takes 20 seconds. Super easy. |
| BTW the answer to this is changing stalls. Most pools have them. If people want modesty, demand it from the infrastructure, not another family just trying to navigate life. |
What car do you drive? Feel free to change your sons next to me in the locker room. |
When DH is out with our 3 year old and there's no family room available he'll have to take her into the men's. He said no one has ever even given a second look about it. |

Also, these people giving tips to others to not bring their young kids in? Save your breath. Not one person is going to take your goofy ass tips, nor will I change my behavior to accommodate your hang up. If you have a problem, by all means, complain to management. But if you hassle me, I'll complain to management about you - it works both ways. We had a few people bitch about this at our pool and management sent out a note saying "hey keep kids 5+ out of the opposite sex changing rooms" and the response from membership - both those with and without kids impacted by such a rule - was to say "nope." It's absurd, as another poster pointed out, to tell a family their little kid should be unsupervised in a restroom. I can tell you the little 6 year old girls who come in to the ladies without parents could use more supervision, not less. Same would go for unsupervised boys in the men's room. Not to mention, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys or something like that suffers from some sort of sexual abuse. Usually it's a known person (friend at the pool?) Hell no are my kids going in there without a trusted adult. HELL NO. So save your breath because I will not change my behavior and give less than one shit about what you think of me and my kids. It would be my supreme pleasure to tell you so to your huffy puffy face, too, so feel free to call me out.
Hugs and kisses! |
Great way to teach your kids about life's rules not applying to your family. Keep it up, you're doing a GREAT job parenting!!!! |
