Transgendered woman in the womens locker room

Without clothes, make-up, heels, hair-do - just naked skin and genetalia, AT THE TIME of my visit - that person looks like a man.

Yes, the business can research (how? get PIs to follow her? that's awfully expensive - especially if there's more than one TG person and that's not a good business practice to spend such money for one client) but they aren't going to have an answer during my visit. So, yes, I'd be uncomfortable with an unknown TG person sharing my women-only facility. Obviously, if I knew the person or they were a regular and I was a regular, then it would be fine for me. but if it was a one-time visit for me or her then I really can understand how uncomfortable I'd be looking over and seeing what appears to be a man.

So this is what people are getting at when they say what if men pretend to be transgendered to take advantage of women (or vice versa)? Where do you draw the line? The PP who thinks it is preposterous that a man would do that- we're not suggesting that a creepy dude would live as a woman (changing name, breast implants, long hair, etc) in order to check out women naked in the locker room- we're suggesting that a man could theoretically say he identifies as a woman and just head on in to the women's locker room. How much of a commitment does a transgendered person need to make to their gender of choice to convince a business that they identify as that gender and belong in that gender's locker room? Do they just say "Yo, I'm a woman?" Do they have to dress like it? The whole thing puts the business and the transgender individual in an awkward position. I think that there is a of gray here. Man or woman, these people are still human and need to be treated with respect, but there will be challenges to come regarding how best to accomplish that.

FFS! It's just a penis. Do you really spend that much time staring at the genitals of others at a spa!?!?

Exactly. I don't know what's up with you all, but when I'm in a locker room or any such place, I avert my eyes from anyone naked and go about my own business. I'm not interested in seeing other people naked and I'm pretty sure nobody cares to look at me either.

17:37 I feel the same way! I guess I will never visit Spa World.

Isn't it illegal for a male (even one who wears makeup, uses hormones, acts womanly) to use the women's bath? I recall a boy like this in my grade school. I can't imagine him showering with us girls! Jimjilbangs, or Korea spas are family places with kids everywhere.

I feel for this business. After a quick google search and craigslist search I see perverted people r using it as a sex meeting place. Also to " check out the goods. Gt turned on and then meet for sex. Ashamed to be American right now. This would neve e happen in Korea.

This person is thoughtless and selfish. I bet the business loses money over this and prob has to tend to all these reports an legal stuff now. Not to memtion if 5 men complained about me in the men's bath, I'd leave, even if I identified as a man. It's quite inconsiderate of the major of spa goers.

Ms. Suising has a government-issued, permanent ID identifying her as a woman.

Her genitals were not on display. That is a fevered transphobic fantasy. Give it up.

No problem at all.

However, I will never set foot in Spa World. Apparently I am not welcomed.

You should grow the fuck up. Seriously.

Did you miss the biology class during your lib arts major?

penis is a man vagina is a woman.

You are wrong, you are confusing sex and gender.

Spa World seems to know this also and that's why they issued the statement.

Why do you say liberal like it's a bad thing? I am fiercely proud of my liberalism and wear it like a fucking badge!

Well I consider myself liberal on many things, but I still would not want my daughter, and frankly myself, walking around a nude man in the process of getting women anatomical parts.

Honest question - are you comfortable walking around naked women? Is it the nudity that bothers you or the maleness? If the latter, why is that?

I say this as a person who will never go to Spa World because I am not comfortable being naked around strangers of ANY gender. If I am totally honest with myself, I know it's because I'm insecure about my body. I don't think I would be any MORE upset by being naked around strange men than I am around strange women in the gym locker room.

Oh ffs STOP LYING! You'd be fine with your daughter seeing naked men? Of course it's the maleness. The problem with the trans activists on the thread is the pretence that this is all so terribly complicated and difficult. These areas are single sex because people are generally more comfortable being nude around the same gender. A penis in the woman's locker room is a big deal. That's a fact.
