I was a little surprised she described her childhood as so poor they couldn’t afford an ice cream ever. I don’t think of poles as having that kind of poverty. I lived in Russia in the 90s and I think everyone could at least afford an occasional ice cream street treat. They were super cheap.

I've been in the fence about the show but I quite liked the final episode. I really liked how quickly Manousos figured out Carol and how he punctured her image of herself. I think Carol showed up with the bomb as a way of trying to show him how serious she was (I'm really not sure practically what she'd do with it).

I spent most of the season unsure, but I'll check out a second season.

Other than that, the whole living in isolation thing really resonates with me. That’s been me for a few years now. Having the ability to do anything isn’t as much fun of an idea when there’s no one you really want to do anything with. Having the ability to do anything also somehow detracts from the appeal of things to the point where you often feel paralyzed to make a choice, and end up doing … nothing

Did you retire early? Win the lottery? I have a friend whose father is a billionnaire and my friend is in intensive therapy because able to do anything/go anywhere isn’t all it’s cracked up to be unless everyone you know/care about is in the same boat.

Carol needs to be the center attention but hates that need within herself. She was never going to survive being isolated. Isolating Carol was the perfect way to break her will.

It's odd that the collective, with the millions of psychiatrists in it, couldn't see this sooner.

My parents would never let me buy ice cream from street carts! When we immigrated to UK they finally said ok to those 1 pound per gallon ice cream tub in super market.
