Obama was the most popular and successful two term president in recent history. He’d win in a heart beat if he was running today. Democrats making everything about race to explain why Harris lost are barking up the wrong tree.

Even among Republicans, the last candidate standing in their primary was Nikki Haley - a brown woman.

The candidate matters. And it’s incredibly dumb for Democrats to fixate on racial and gender boxes. The number of voters who would only vote for a white man is vanishingly small. Get a good candidate and 90 percent of Americans wouldn’t give a damn about their race or gender.

This is all Democrats obsess over. We see it in thread after thread here on DCUM - "who should run in 2028?" And then post after post about what combination of race and gender would make a winning team. Absolutely idiotic.

It’s not idiotic. Its strategy. Republicans only have to appeal to a narrow group of people who have a lot in common (but mostly race). The democrats have a bigger tent and more of every kind of diversity in their party. They have to appeal to a wide variety of people with different cultures and races.

What appeals to the normal masses of people are candidates with presidential leadership skills. Only idiots put race or gender above presidential talent. You may be an idiot but most Dems aren't.

I appreciated her and if she didn't have the association with the extraordinarily unpopular elderly "white man", her career wouldn't have ended so abruptly. I'm sorry if this being the "white man's" fault hurts your feelings but your misguided feelings don't change the truth.

I will absolutely not vote for her after the Biden administration. I voted republican in 2000 and am staunchly democratic. She came off as a do nothing in office and did not take a stand against Biden and his dementia/inability to be president. I don’t just blame her, but the whole upper echelon of the Democratic Party. When you're the VP of a failed president, you go down with the ship no matter who you are. Pence and Vance are experiencing the same thing. Harris was loyal to Biden because that's the way it works when you're VP . I don't blame anyone for not supporting Trump or Biden but blaming any of the 2024 election debacle on Harris is a ridiculous sign of a low political IQ.

The Dems could have raised 19.8 trillion dollars and had an opponent even weaker than Trump and still would have lost the 2024 POTUS election. When an incumbent president with a 38% approval rating backs out of the race for a second term just a few weeks before their party's convention and 3 months prior to Election Day, the incumbent party will lose 1000 times out of 1000.

Generally speaking, an incumbent with a sub 45% approval rating while seeking a second term is guaranteed to lose. Factor in the terrible timing of Biden's exit from the race with the fact that the party had no choice but to nominate the one politician most closely associated to the very unpopular president, and it's an absolute no-win situation for which Biden is clearly responsible for. Harris didn't ask to be placed into that no-win situation but she did the best she could considering the unfortunate circumstances behind her nomination.
