Military Parade in Capital on Trump’s Birthday Could Cost $45 Million, Officials Say

Anonymous
I’ve been obsessively checking the weather forecasts. So far, rain and possible thunderstorms are predicted for next Saturday. I’m all set to start publicly mumbling things like: “God don’t love ugly.” whilst shaking my head in agreement. It would be a real shame if the expensive parade got rained out. And it would be pretty funny if the original plans to celebrate the Army were held as scheduled— before the deluge.

Yes, it's on. There's a website where you can sign up for tickets or whatever. I haven't seen road closing information, but that'd usually come later.

It would be a shame if a bunch of locals signed up for tickets and didn’t show up.🤷‍♀️

I’d do this — but, sadly, the request for personal information, including cell phone numbers, has me concerned about adding even more ppi to the DOGE data base.

I’m curious about having a ticketed event for such a large space — including the monument grounds. Is that whole area, plus a huge chunk of Constitution Ave. going to be closed off with limited entry points?

If it’s rained out Trump will reschedule for next year and waste more money. Let’s hope this is one and done.

Well if they get struck by lightening they might.

Just don't go or even claim tickets, the number of claimed tickets adds to their inflated attendance numbers.

That's the important thing for Trump.

One that values intimidation.

It IS jarring. It’s, perhaps, particularly jarring for those of us who remember tanks and trucks full of heavily armed soldiers rolling through the streets in 1968. I had forgotten about that — until I saw the trains bringing in the tanks. I will seriously be staying home next Saturday.

There are mini protests happening all around the region—Gaithersburg, silver spring, Reston, falls church, bethesda. I may go to one of those. (Although it’s crappy because it’s also the same day as a lot of communities Juneteenth celebration—I wonder if the Trump folks even realized that.)
