Farming is desperately needed on the whole continent. It needs to be modern day commercial farming that mass produces food so that it is available cheaply enough for the growing population.
Currently the continent has over 1 billion people, which is a man made problem and there is no alternative than to embrace the time and century that we live in.
Subsistence farming will kill the economy and leave the farmers in dire straits when there is a seasonal drought.
