Anyone considering this should consult an attorney to evaluate the terms BEFORE they accept.

It’s worth the few thousand dollars to make sure you don’t get totally screwed.

It's not really a buy-out, they are just saying you can agree to their "early retirement" and keep working remotely til september and keep getting paid, or quit sooner and they may very well just kick you out the second you agree to it and not pay you a penny.

It's really a trap and I doubt it's legal.

If they want me gone they can do a RIF with severance pay.

What about collective bargaining agreements with unions, can this type of thing really be enforceable if it’s not in a CBA? I’d be really skeptical…

But there’s no longer a quorum since the NLRB is down to two people. They are very strategic. Total dismantle of government, piece by piece.

The NLRB deals with private sector unions, so they would have nothing to do with this.

The organization you're thinking of is likely the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA). They handle labor relations for federal employees. Another related entity is the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), which focuses on protecting civil service merit systems against abuses and ensuring federal employment matters are handled fairly and with due process.

It is not a buyout. You may still have to work from home until Sept. if you take the deal. You're just agreeing to quit in Sept. may still have to work the whole time.

Apparently Elon crafted nearly an identical email for Twitter. Such a dirty, dirty move
.

Why is it dirty? Federal employees didn't work from home before Covid.

Yes, telework was a thing pre-covid.

A very bizarre clown car. Wtf.

This is happening because the new administration wants to completely shut down/delete the government by getting rid of all federal employees so the United States is a dictatorship.

All Maga cult followers should be very concerned.

It is definitely not a good thing for people who are not ready to retire or who do not have another job lined up.

They won’t pay you. They are liars.

Anonymous wrote:The way I read it, you really will not have to work much for those 7-8 months. It's basically what private companies do -- put you on so-called garden leave to give you time to look for another job. I think that's what they're aiming for.

No. They don’t care if you find another job. This is President Musk we are talking about. He doesn’t care.

I would not take that deal! And once fired I would file wrongful termination class action suit! Just type resign doesn’t sound like contract binding in any way. No thanks!

The email read like a complete lie, like something someone who's never had any experience in government imagines the government can do, but can't actually do.

It's been pointed out that the email is very similar to one that was sent out at Twitter when Muskrat took over, even down to the email subject line.

Go ahead and get your retirement plans in, but whatever you do, don't reply to any of these weird OPM emails.

Good. Probably half the feds “working from home” are sitting on DCUM all day.

Some of you will be able to remain in your cushy govt jobs, working harder, in-person, and under more supervision. Many of you will simply be laid off.

Take the 9 month severance or leave it. But you can’t stop what’s coming.
