Trump fires Inspectors General.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn deferred to Grassley when asked for comment.

"I think we just take it one step at a time and try to understand what the rationale was," he said.

translation: ever since Jan 6, we have to be told when we can be mad.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky, said he believes many of the inspectors general do need to be replaced and that Trump ultimately has the power to do so. But he noted there may be a process that needs to be followed.

he doesn't know if there is?

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who helped to pass the legislation in 2022 that strengthened the law requiring administrations to give a detailed reasoning for the firing of an IG, said she was frustrated by Trump's move.

"I don't understand why one would fire individuals whose mission is to root out waste, fraud and abuse," Collins said. "So this leaves a gap in what I know is a priority for President Trump, so I don't understand it."

Yeah, me either.

The Republican Party would not have had the power to get Trump and all the wins had it not been for Mitch McConnell. More than any other Republican, McConnell is why the GOP has so much control today over judiciary, legislative, and executive. You’re not very bright if you can recognize it.

The question is: why is Mitch turning against him now?

He is not. Mitch is not one of his MAGA lackeys. He's older than Trump, and one of the most powerful men in the free world before Trump ever got the whim to dabble in politics. He is a serious person and he actually cares about our nation even if he doesn't always agree with the others he works with. Anyone, especially Trump who is ever under the illusion that Mitch McConnell shouldn't be taken seriously will get what's coming to them and fast. I suspect Trump pissed him off. And Mitch McConnell isn't to be trifled with. That said, Hegseth is the Secretary of Defense, so Trump needs to calm down and move on. McConnell could easily have sunk the nomination and he didn't.

McConnell is not running for reelection. He doesn't like Trump can do anything he wants. If he was younger and wanted to run again, he'd have voted for Hesgeth to avoid a primary competition and avoid conflict in the Senate. I would not be surprised if McConnell voted no knowing Tillis was going to vote yes so it wouldn't matter. I do not find McConnell a man of any particular integrity. It's akin to people suddenly discovering Cheney was a man of integrity!

Read the article. The problem is that firing them without 30 days notice to Congress and specific reasons for doing so violates federal law.

I think he has more integrity than Trump. It is a low bar.

It's a headline on Fox News if that's what you're looking for.

I made it halfway down the very very long homepage, and it’s not there. If it is, it’s below an interview with the designer of Melania’s hat, and the discovery of a frozen alligator.

Still not a single mention of it

FOX is complicit. They are covering up for Trump's brazenly corrupt and criminal actions against our own government.

this can’t be said enough. Why they had to pay $787 in damages

They obviously need to get hit with more suits until they stop lying and covering up.

Good. Fox owners despise MAGA.

Trump doesn't want to follow the law. Then, as a thought exercise, why should anyone else follow the law, and wouldn't it ultimately embolden people on the other side, leading to more Luigis? It would then be hypocritical to prosecute political opponents when you yourself do not follow the law, no?

Actually, during the Bush Administration ( circa 2007 ish ) his Dept of State Inspector General was about as far from being a barrier to corruption- he was Bush's Yale Frat brother and as Inspector General of the State Department he ordered all of his subordinates to immediately cease all investigations of contact fraud in Iraq :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Krongard

So maybe look more critically at the trend of corruption instead of just being triggered :

Aides to Krongard threatened two U.S. State Department investigators with retaliation, including termination of their jobs, if they cooperated with the investigations into Blackwater USA and Krongard, according to a report released by the U.S. House of Representatives. [9] Krongard directly interfered with federal prosecutors when they asked his office for help with investigating possible Blackwater arms smuggling. In an e-mail, he wrote, to his staff

is directed to stop IMMEDIATELY any work on these contracts until I receive a briefing from the (assistant U.S. attorney) regarding the details of this investigation. SA Militana, ASAIC Rubendall and any others involved are to be directed by you not to proceed in any manner until the briefing takes place,
That was sent to a subordinate on July 11, 2007, and was disclosed by Waxman's congressional investigation, who revealed the e-mails. Krongard denied this, however.[10]

On November 14, 2007, Krongard testified to Congress, regarding his brother,

I can tell you, very frankly, I am not aware of any financial interest or position he has with respect to Blackwater.

Were they Inspectors General or were they staff that worked in the office of the Inspector General?

Not sure why anyone would bother to pay their taxes since IRS is being rendered unnecessary.

Here is how this should be messaged:

Trump and his billionaire friends are stealing from you, and he corruptly removed the watchdogs so they can cover it up.
