If only there were some law requiring the president to publicly state the cause… |
Which of the 74 IGs were fired? And if it's illegal, can they hold their positions while legal issues are addresses? Or will they be out on paid administrative leave? |
It’s funny how everyone screams that the federal government needs to be a meritocracy; however, all of the recent events seems to be about loyalty. |
There is this little blue line of text in the OP…. |
Well Murica, ya got what ya voted for! |
An IG lead to his impeachment the first time. He is about to go in and do some messed up crazy stuff and staff will not be protected or heard.

Conservative media is complicit in covering up his criminality. |
Difference is dems had the house last time. Zero chance Johnson does anything about this blatant lawlessness |
Bending the knee and following orders unquestioningly even if they break a dozen laws and violate norms standards and human decency is the only "merit" this administration cares about. There's now data point after data point after data point. Yet the resident DCUM "conservatives" dishonestly feign eyerolling and say "oh pshh you're being hysterical." I put conservatives in quotes because you have completely lost any and all grounding in what conservatism stood for and are now nothing but a clownish caricature without any morals or standards or values. |
The firing is illegal. Per the IG Act 2022, he has to give Congress a 30 day notice. |
Read the article. The problem is that firing them without 30 days notice to Congress and specific reasons for doing so violates federal law. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-fires-least-12-independent-inspectors-general-washington-post-reports-2025-01-25/ |
We tried. The DNC messaging on this threat (well, on most issues) was lamentably bad. It should have been relentless and clear since 2016. Teach your kids and, if needed, your friends, about authoritarians of history and how he fits the pattern. |
He did it in his first term as well. I don’t remember any penalties for that. |
From the article, it was twelve (so far): “ Oversight of some of the government’s largest agencies was affected: the departments of Defense, State, Transportation, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Energy, Commerce and Agriculture, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Administration and the Social Security Administration.” Most likely they are out the door until and unless there is a legal injunction, but a closer read of the article or a better understanding of federal employment protections than I have may suggest otherwise. |
Thank you! |
