DOGE ... Elon and Vivek ... and results by 2026

It costs roughly 3 cents to mint 1 penny. Politicians have repeatedly tried to get legislation passed to eliminate the minting of pennies in the US, with no success. If Congress cannot agree to eliminate the minting of pennies, I think Elon is going to be surprised at how difficult it will be to eliminate other programs.

Or move on to jobs that pay better

If there are jobs that pay better for which you’re qualified, why are you in the federal government in the first place? I’m not trying to snarky- this is an honest question.

Like most Feds, I started off in the private sector. I really didn't like the uncertainty: it was worth a large pay cut, to me, to gain some stability and not constantly be scrabbling for the next client.

When I left private the first time, I took a 60% pay cut and gave up the ability to own stock. The pay difference going back wouldn't be as stark because I earn more today, but I could still find a job paying at least 150% of what I make now, probably with better perks. Would it be hard and unpleasant? Sure, but I'd do it.

What I don't think the haters realize is how their jobs will be affected by a job market that's suddenly awash with smart, experienced people who are used to working for considerably less than the market rate. Good luck keeping your job in that environment.

You don’t own any stock? You divested your entire portfolio? What agency makes you sell all of your securities?
