I think a fair amount of ppl on this thread have kids who are in the pool of players that DCU could be scouting so I think there is a genuine interest in what the academy is like and whether your child will thrive in it should they be noticed and invited to ID sessions. Bc by now, assuming your player is playing a high level, you have an idea of what kind of training and development your kid needs to having a long soccer career (say top D1 or pro).
I’m curious as to whether your own club has talked about DCU and whether they are either advocating for your player to get scouted for example or whether they say stay away from the academy and explore options or whether they don’t talk about it at all. |
The Mid-Atlantic division you numbnuts. I do like gummies however. |
Well gummie bears The PP said name all destinations for all academies but we understand your current situation |
Wrong place for neutral objective info Obvious biases here from a certain local club owner who has a known feud with DCU. Plus others who have their own personal grievances. Its a shame for legitimate folks like you who want good information you can use. |
Thats actually a good issue to raise. Its a tough one for the clubs in our area. On one end of the spectrum, there are programs that want to see kids get to a higher level. On the other hand, that is literally money leaving their pockets if the players roll to DCU. The interests are not aligned. But it all depends on the club you are at. I've seen clubs speak the truth about DCU but say that is where you need to be if you want to take your game to the higher level in our area. Have also seen clubs tell kids to straight up stay away from DCU but with their own interests top of mind. It just all depends on the situation and the club. |
Is this the same DCU defender?? Haven't you gone away yet? You have clearly been outmatched. BY EVERYONE. |
Again, all we're saying is that if your kid is good enough to be watched by DCU, reach out to other academies and have them take a look as well. If your kid gets multiple offers, take a good look at each program and their resources. Of course DCU is a no brainer if you get no other interest. |
I represent Paragon |
Does Paragon still exist? |
This is not France, Spain, Brazil, Holland etc... What's the big difference between your kid at DCU at home versus another academy 8 states away for a 13 year old alone? Unless kid is a Cavan Sullivan or other generational talent. |
Is that relevant to anything on here? |
They do look at those submissions, I know of a player that went to Crew that way. I know of a player that filled out one of those forms and the scout came out to watch him at MLSNext Fest. I know of another player that got picked up at MLSNext Fest because they were there to watch someone else but saw him instead. At the club we're at, the coach would not actively contact academy coaches for his players. I would be shocked if he did. |
The big difference is that it is a significant commitment for the child and the family for a organization that isn't making the same type of commitment to your son. |
What kind of contract will your U14 son from Springfield VA sign to go to Columbus Crew? Why does Seattle have more commitment to your son than DC? |
As in players have asked the coach to reach out to the academy and the coach says no? Does the coach at least communicate with the academy if they reach out to them? Academies always ask for contact info for the players coach |
