Yes, her homestead exemption mistake in MD cost her money, but by forgetting to remove the senior and homestead exemptions on her grandparents home in DC when she inherited it, saved her about $16K in taxes over the time she owned it. She's going to pay it back, but that did save her a significant amount in taxes over the years.[/quote] It will end up costing her a lot in interest and penalties[/quote]
