Usha Vance Dresses

She’s beautiful, and smart, and from what I can see, a person with no principles, just like her husband.

This kind of exemplifies why this place is nuts. Until Monday, Usha could have been a frequent DCUM poster: DC lawyer mom with three small kids and a husband who seems pretty focused on his own career and seems to have evolved in a pretty negative way through the years. But suddenly this (mostly) normal person is getting all this criticism that she did not put enough makeup on to deal with the convention and TV lights? C'mon I have been clicking on some of your fashion links for years. Let me say I am skeptical that the vast majority of DCUM posters would have made better fashion choices in the same circumstances.

There is a difference between the scenarios you are describing. My coworker with three little kids and a shitty husband doesn’t wear makeup to work? Fine. No qualms from me, do whatever you want.

Woman - whose husband’s party has some pretty regressive views about women - goes on stage at a televised convention with no makeup and ratty hair? No one is calling her a troll just saying what was she thinking.

Her dress was fine. But yes I would’ve gotten a blow out and at least put on more than lip balm to sell America on why they should vote for my misogynist husband who complains about other women being “frumpy cat ladies.”

She is good the way she is.

For school pickup

And if she had shown gotten all dolled up with thick makeup and glamorous hair/dress, you'd be calling her a typical "Trump Barbie." She is herself and she looks great. It's fun to see how triggered you are by her. DP

As I said earlier in this thread there has to be a happy medium between Usha and K Guillfoyle. No one is asking her to immediately get a BBL, boob lift, and enough Botox to kill a horse. Some of us are simply suggesting she doesn’t wear the same flats she wears to take out the trash to the RNC.

Um, no there is not a nod to her heritage there, unless you are talking about her AMERICAN heritage. Born and raised in the USA. She is AMERICAN.

Um, I was born and raised in the USA and I also have heritage from four different countries outside the USA. And I like to learn about and sometimes wear clothing that originates in the countries my ancestors came from because I love my immigrant grandparents and like to give credit to them for their hard work and bravery. That’s what the US is all about.

Simple dresses, smart but soulless- sounds like she’s drinking the MAGA kool-aid, hold the botox.

I find it hilarious that they cast one of the most beautiful actresses in the world to portray her who is mid at BEST

Do you know what heritage means? It means your ancestry. So like I’m an American with German and Polish ancestry. You would refer to that as my German or polish heritage.

Her dress, hair, and makeup look fine. I remember many people ripping on Amy Coney Barett for not having a blowout. What is this, 1982 feminism? As long as she’s groomed and dressed appropriately, she’s fine. She doesn’t need 90 minutes in the makeup chair to be in the spotlight.

SHE WASNT GROOMED OR DRESSED APPROPRIATELY. That is the argument people are making. A jersey lounge dress and unkempt hair is not appropriate!

Amy Coney Barrett looked lovely. She didn’t look like she overslept and threw on a dress.

ACB was up for a job HERSELF. This lady is the spouse of someone up for a job. She doesn’t owe anyone jacksh!t.

ACB’s dresses got a lot of praise here IIRC. The only thing wrong IMO was that it looked like she didn’t know what hair conditioner was for.

My point was that they’re in no way comparable situations. So sick of our country expecting a woman to work for free, or I guess cater to our fashion whims, because her *husband* decides *he* wants an important job.

Except then she went and put on the gaudy red and blue dresses for the other day. So someone saw this Oatmeal Mistake of Great Depression and got her to a stylist for every other event, and she complied.

Anyone making that "argument" has a screw loose. She looked perfectly appropriate. She looked lovely. I bet you consider yourself a feminist, right?

I do. And also I have eyes.

She needs to be dressed by Indian designers. She is being dressed by White people. Not her fault. We all (all Indian immigrants) dressed like death when we came to India because the corporate culture demanded that we dress in unflattering clothes and terrible dead colors.

But, those years are left behind. India is doing well and we have talent. So, go for the colors, Usha.

for the folks complaining about pictures, here is a picture of Usha's red dress last night.

The blue and red dress are gaudy? lol. Ok.

Blue dress - great
Red dress - great
Beige dress - not great

Some stylist will descend and she'll have an appearance wardrobe of dresses like the red and blue ones.

The red dress is the best of the three by far. Though the blue color really popped for her. If she can manage the red as her SLOTUS-nominee style, it will work for her
