I want a boat neck, cape sleeve, forgiving fabric, longer midi travel dress like she wears. I found one but I don't do full price in this range. Lol at that dress being for travel. I don’t know what she was thinking. “Wow! My dh just got selected for VP! I’m gonna get this gray jersey thing out of my closet.”

That's not how the dress read. "Smart not sexy" would be to put her in something like one of the dresses Amy Coney Barrett wore to her (infuriating) confirmation hearings. This dress wasn't that. |

I mean, she's following in the footsteps of Mrs. Pence. I think they want her to be there (it's a big draw that Vance is a "family man") but other than that they want her as inoffensive/negligible as possible. |

Didn’t Soviet premiere wives famously dress as dowdy and dour as possible? I can’t help but imagine that she’s trying to send such a message herself.
Also that she will not be falling into Ivanka’s pageant toddler/stripper/sassy grandma pot. |

I assumed it was more than the vp selection was a surprise and she didn't have much to wear so just pulled out a dress she had.
The speech wasn't great either and I assumed that was because it was written in a hurry and she didn't get a lot of time to practice. |

Hardly. She was/is a high powered litigator at a top boutique law firm who had to give up her job much like Doug Emhoff had to give up his law partnership. I'm not a Vance fan by any stretch but let's compare her to Emhoff, not to Mother Pence (who did actually, to her credit, work while her husband was VP). |
