All the money given put during the pandemic--ruined our economy. All the young people complaining about Boomers need to complain about:
-Stimulus checks -unemployment payments that were higher than people's normal salaries -lockdowns, so no commuting, dry cleaning, gad, childcare, etc, people saves a ton of money -low interest rates leading to refinances that left people flush with cash |
are you trying to tell us something? you changed your mind about... dry cleaning young people during the pandemic? |
Saved not saves Typo |
Yeah I still don’t know what you changed your mind about. |
I changed my mind on vaccines in large part because of attitudes like this. I simply don’t believe that anybody owes anything to “society” just because they happened to be born in a specific place. To be clear, I want everyone to safely and voluntarily participate in vaccines. But you can’t push that on to someone. I also changed my mind on military service. Went from my experience leading me to believe everyone should serve because of the tremendous benefits (mandatory conscription) to now thinking the draft should be abolished. If the country cannot raise a volunteer military force during time of war then the people are telling you the country is not worth fighting for. |
So you think the economy would have sailed along fine without any intervention during the pandemic? |
So you also are against measles vaccines? Or just the highly politicized vaccines? And you do owe society - if you want to live with us and reap the benefits, economically, socially, emotionally, you need to agree to the basic health standards. Are you going to stop using public sewer systems or a zoning approved septic system because you think you don’t owe society a cholera free world? Cmon |
A lot of “me too” from this thread like
And I’ll add that I’ve changed my mind on: |
You're insane. It certainly is a personal choice. I chose and will continue to choose to get every updated shot that comes out. But you must have a short memory if you don't recall how this vaccine was sold to us. And yes, we didn't know what we didn't know but now we know, it's barely effective at all-NOT 90%-at preventing a vaccinated person from getting Covid. The un-vaccinated these days are fairing just as well as those who got the shots. |
No it’s not a personal choice. They don’t work if enough people don’t get them. This is not a new or hard concept. It’s why they’re required to go to school. Mass vaccination policies are literally humanity changing and medical miracles. And we’ve had them for decades. Studies show the vaccines are super effective - you have no idea how many times you’ve been exposed, you have no idea how much the vaccines dampened the effects and you have no idea about the exposure rates for those without the shots or the severity of their symptoms. But! Good news! There are massive, massive peer reviewed studies that you can go and read that detail with actual statistical evidence, how impressively effective the vaccines were! You don’t need to rely on your incomplete anecdotal recollection! It’s honestly hard to believe there are still people so scientifically illiterate about things that have been accepted for decades - you’re exhibiting a lower understanding of vaccines than your grandparents had! That’s crazy to see such backwards progress! |
Cucumbers. I used to be neutral, but as I get older and wiser, I realize they are just plain evil. |
We accept far more onerous mandates for far less benefit all the time. You’re espousing a view point that turns back progress 100 years. It’s so sad and I’m so sorry people have led you so far astray. |
Really? I’m the other way. Hated them when I was younger, but now, I absolutely love the refreshing crunch on something like the turkey sandwich I had yesterday. |
+1 million |
I’ve always liked them but now I love them. My kids eat them like candy. They love them cold and crisp by the pound. |
