Why did he even try to compare one concert to another, why even bring Taylor up in the middle of your own concert – but anyway if there’s something that’s been misconstrued….Why hasn’t he spoken out and just be like move on guys nothing here?
Why is TS at the peak of the music world immune from a competitive snipe?
Why?
What? Your take is that its ok for a grown man to spread a false narrative/dig about a fellow artist because the female performer at the peak of the music world?
There is absolutely no competition between Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift. Completely different markets and they both sold out a show on the same night same city. This is not a "competitive snipe".
Yeah it was- he was contrasting his show with the biggest show in the business.
And he didn’t spread a false rumor. Did he tweet this? Include an Easter egg in his song for hit his grohlies to take down TS?
No the press blasted this. He made one comment during his show.
This. The fact that Grohl mentioned Swift in this way is actually a compliment to her success.
This thin-skinned crying foul because he ribbed her a bit instead of sticking to glowing compliments (which not have been consistent with his onstage persona, which is jokey, a bit sardonic, self-deprecating) is tiresome.
Some of you are taking this way more personally than it was meant for some reason. He made a pun. Grow up.
Yup. Most people complaining about this have not been to a Foo show. Self-depreciating off-the-cuff jokes and comments are pretty norm for him.
It's just amazing how triggered the TS fans get
Saying that you make mistakes because you do things better (play live) is not exactly self-deprecating. As others have said, she’s defending her band- I don’t know why people think this is a bad thing.
Did he say it was better? Or is that a judgement you are making about the comment? No one said he did things better- except you.
You would have to be pretty dense to not read the statement as a veiled insult.
But. She. Does. It. Her band and dancing is all live. The vocals not all of them. How is that insulting exactly?
He vocals are live.
Not all of them. She uses backing tracks especially on the very dance focused numbers -- there are points in the show when you can tell she's singing along not just singing. Which is fine (pop fans are fine with backing tracks because it's more about the whole experience and seeing their favorite act on stage and the dancing and sets and the fact that some of the music is not 100% live is okay especially when it ensures a more consistent experience from show to show) but it's also fine for Grohl to be like "we don't use backing tracks -- everything you hear is happening live."
It doesn't matter if she uses back tracking, her vocals are live.
When people say a concert is not live, it means the music is prerecorded and they lip sync.
He didn't say we don't use backing track, he said they are actually live. Well so is the Taylor Swift band and her vocals are live she is not lip syncing.
She is lip syncing on certain songs. She uses backing vocals on many of her more dance-intensive numbers and there are parts where she's not singing or barely singing. Some of what you hear is live but some of it is pre-recorded.
Her band is live but no one ever insinuated otherwise -- Dave Grohl was not commenting on the experienced touring musicians on Eras. And Taylor knows that.
Wrong.
Doesn’t matter either way us Foo Fighters fans, and David Grohl fans are disappointed in him being a dick.
Lol. No, we're really not.
Most Foo fans are chill adults in theirs 40s that grew on grunge.
We're not going to be disappointed in our of rock heros for having a little fun ragging on a pop star. I would bet 99% of Dave fans would chuckle along with him.
Have you been to one of his shows? He just shoots the sh#t, off the cuff, between songs half the time. When they were at Merriweather a few years ago, he just made fun of the maryland accent for the entire show.
