Dave Grohl vs Taylor Swift

Anonymous
Can someone please give me a run down of what is going on with Dave Grohl and Taylor Swift?

From what I have read Grohl made some sort of comment about how Swift doesn't sing live at her Eras Tour and now Swifties are coming for Grohl and saying how he is "a washed up has been", which is hilarious. FWIW I am solidly Team Grohl. He is a living icon and will withstand any sort of sh*t the Swifties send his way.

I think your summary is it. I like them both, but Team Grohl in this instance.

OP - BTW the more and more I am reading about Taylor Swift the less I like her. I think she is emotionally stunted (a la Britney Spears) and has a touch of the mean girl tendency. At the minimum she values profit over anything. She could easily reach out to her Swifties and tell them to stop bullying people but she doesn't want to push back on the people who buy her stuff.

+1
It’s not that deep

I think it's more than that. He was intimating that her band didn't play live and she was defending that. Not sure why he had to make the diss in the first place if he's confident in his and his band's music and performances.

I think it was petty and silly to criticize her for a small amount of lip synching during what is more of a long multi-layered experience than a simple concert, but she also disses people in an immature way all the time, so I am Team Nobody.

I agree. Dave gets a pass from me on this very minor transgression because of the very solid human being that he is. I have not met him but a good friend is in the industry and says he's nicer than most people in music.

The funniest part is Swifties tweeting that Grohl is irrelevant. LMAO

I also read that swifties went after his daughter for making a comment online about Taylor’s private plane

There’s also this about Taylor helping him years ago

It's a little bit of a bummer, because they both have "nice" personas. There's nothing even remotely washed up about Dave Grohl.

Disappointed in Grohl. Why randomly go after a young woman performer? Thought he was such a nice guy.

Eh- when you are on top people compare themselves to you. That is what he was doing- saying they are playing a rock show. They aren’t giving a multi-layered concert/stage show experience. They are playing a rock show. Being on top of the world means you are the industry standard. Dave was just saying, we aren’t going to give you that, we are just us playing.

I’m not sure why the Swifties are so insecure in her success, they need to attack everyone.

I think it was an intentional diss. Swifties went after his daughter with death threats and doxxing when she rightly called out Taylor’s hypocritical excessive use of private jet while also preaching about being environmentally conscious.

I don't love it either, but it wasn't random. His daughter was being harassed and sent actual death threats because she commented on Swift taking private jets.

She's 34, not a "young woman."
