Why not bring the teachers back three days earlier in August for the training? |
They would have to pay them for it |
Ok. That would be far better than this nonsense. |
We do teach things in those first 2-3 weeks beyond team building and rules. There are standards and lessons that are taught during that time. |
Where should the money come from? The budget already been approved. |
People blaming Youngkin for this are ridiculous. The Virginia Literacy Act passed the legislature with massive bipartisan margins. And when FCPS did the “Equitable Access to Literacy” thing a few years ago it was Frisch who was hoping they could fit in more PD for it. Both parties are at fault for piling on PD as opposed to learning (though only one political party opposed phonics 20 years ago…). |
They would still have to find a way to pay the teachers, which is their primary obstacle. |
The state should really have funded this mandate. Then they could have done it over the summer.
How are Arlington/alexandria/PWCPS handling it? |
What an odd suggestion! FCPS would be better off doing 4 full days and lining them up with other teacher workdays. |
When my kids were in FCPS grade school, all Mondays were half days. They were home by 12:30 every Monday. I'm a SAHM, so it didn't bother me. Sounds like they're heading back in that direction again. |
There is no way teachers are giving up their precious summer break for training, are you kidding me? All the teachers I know have posted Day 1 and 2 poolside selfies already this week!!!! |
That would be fine, but a lot of us gave up SACC because we didn't think we needed it for the next school year. There is only one early release day on next year's calendar, so we figured we could handle that, but now they're saying there will be seven more!! |
Whether or not the teachers are at the pool, the county can’t force them to do training when they are not under contract. |
Or increase their pay and stop giving them summers off. |
I paid $200/week for before and aftercare at a martial arts place pre-pandemic. |
