Re-entering the dating scene. Are brazilian waxes an expectation now?

Anonymous
My pubic hair is very thick and I get horrible itching when I shave. So I started waxing. Has nothing to do with a man's preference. I like it because its more comfortable for me.

It's all fine. Perhaps a Brazilian is not fine for YOU. But it most certainly is fine for anyone who wants one.

I never said what I do (fwiw, I remove everything except a tiny hanging strip).

But you have people on this thread saying everyone under X age is hairless, that they smell, are dirty, and that it’s expected to look a certain way. Those aren’t “you do you” responses. I am countering that no, not everyone is hairless, nor is it viewed as the right way to look. And having pubic hair is not an older person’s thing.

I was not going to click this thread but wow -- it did not disappoint.

Is this age specific?

41F, two kids, all I do is shave bikini line and trim the length. "big triangle" I guess one would call it.

Does income or race play a role? culture?

There is so much that does go into this decision.

I admit in my 20s I was bald. Once my 30s hit.. why. What was I doing that for? I think all my friends at the time did it and I fell in line.

Either way- end of the day- to each their own. Triangle, strip, hairless, no trim at all-- you do do everyone!

OK, feel better now? I didn't say anything to the contrary.

Not the PP, but yes. Sex and the City, etc. culturally it was the "it" thing to do. I see her point.

Look at all the women on Real Housewives and those shows talk about laser and waxes. There is culture/richness to being hairless versus not I would tend to think.

Most men enjoy it, and in my 20s, I don't think I had a girlfriend who didn't spend at least part of their time bald, and rarely more than a small strip. Body hair, in general, is not super hot. If you have it, it should be VERY well groomed.

You focused on my feelings, which were irrelevant to my post. I really don’t care about validating your Brazilian.

You are very strange. I never asked you to validate anything. You are pissing in the wind.

Unless you’re Brazilian, it’s cultural appropriation.

+1000c

What also bothers me is that it's a trend that came from porn. Porn stars were always looking for a new kink and it made them look like children.

Porn stars were not the impetus behind this. It's men who wanted to see them more clearly.

You are wrong. Porn stars did in fact start the trend - just like acrylic nails.

They did not do it because they wanted to do. It was demand from men.

NP. I had presumed it was because of the trend for close-ups and the truth that -- as performers age -- gray hairs are a thing.
