Re-entering the dating scene. Are brazilian waxes an expectation now?

Anonymous
I have not dated in years. I am just getting back out there and a friend told me that men expect women to have no pubic hair these days. I have had a bikini line wax before for vacations, but never the full treatment. Is it super painful?

Hey… it is painful but gets less painful if you do it regularly (I.e once a month or so). I wouldn’t waste my money though. Get a package and laser it off. It hurts much less. As to whether it’s the expectation now I have no idea! I am married with three kids so wouldn’t be able to answer that question. I remove my hair down there because I’m Arab and that’s the cultural norm (makes sense if you think about it! The Arab world is hot temperature wise). I say if you choose to remove it do it because you want to and not because men expect you to remove your hair

Ugh no

Why would you do this unless you want to? No.

I would say yes - went to Korean spa the other weekend and most women are hairless. Age didn’t matter. Surprised me.

Ugh, but yes

Man here. We don't want you to look like a child. That's gross. Neat and tidy is fine.

I think it's fine not to but perhaps it's a generational thing?

Stop the war on pubic hair!

Another reason why I will never re-enter the dating scene. I feel sorry for my daughters if this is what is now expected for dating.

Don’t know the age of your daughters. Mine are teens and they seem much more accepting of natural bodies than my 90s peers.

Eww no.

It’s not an expectation and I agree with the previous poster that you shouldn’t be doing it out of the expectation of men. I don’t know how old you are, but I am 50, and the men that I have dated do not “expect” it. And, since it is not part of your regular grooming, I wouldn’t want to start doing it just for dating. Sure, you may want to do regular bikini wax/upkeep and other things that make you feel confident physically, but taking it off simply because you think it is expected doesn’t seem right to me. If you were my friend, that’s what I would say to you.

Maybe hairless women like to flash.
