I have a SIL but I don't have a brother. I'll let you noodle on that riddle for awhile until you get it.

I can't tell if the person with the SIL but no brother is the OP or a new pesron, but I think the point is that 1) often women are assigned these dumb tasks by in-laws and if this is what is going on, no wornder the SIL is rude, but 2) even if not, contact the person you are actually related to, esp if you don't like the spouse

My noise notifications for texts is always off. Who are you people dealing with pings all day? Since no one calls anymore besides senior citizens, emergencies, and telemarketers, phone rings can stay all 24 hours/day.

My west coast sister is like this.

I try to remember .

She does not like to turn her phone off in case one of her kids has an emergency.

I don’t really like texts before 9 am on weekends myself.

do you all know there is a way to put your phone on do not disturb, but have your a list of contacts that are allowed to bypass this?

Unfortunately people are extremely dumb and either don’t know that there is a way to silence notifications AND MAKE EXCEPTIONS for it, or they maybe don’t have an iPhone and it’s impossible?

I don’t text anyone who is suss re: computer literacy (this includes anyone over the age of 50) outside “normal” hours.

Unfortunately too many people for my liking do call… I wish they emailed.
It’s business related

If there is no scenario you can conceive of where someone might need to reach you urgently, then you truly lead a charmed life and I am envious.

By way of text? No.

No one is going to text someone in an emergency. That is so stupid.

People who complain about this are the worst. Use DND or deal.

I have no patience for high maintenance princesses who refuse to manage their phone.

I may miss your 8:30pm text, but respond at 4am when I get up. I don't complain about your evening text when I get ready for bed, because I'm a grownup.

You don’t have to answer? I mean I get work calls too but they are to my work number so I control how they make it to my cell phone. No one calls from work at 6:50 am unless we discussed it ahead of time.

No texts before 9:30 during the week.

This is insanity

Not really.

Some people actually try to sleep in on the weekends and I don’t want to pounce on them shortly after they wake up.

You are rude. I leave my phone on in case of an emergency.

You can silence text notifications and allow calls thru. No one is texting you in an emergency and even if they did, they would call if you didn’t reply immediately.

The three people who are the ONLY ones who would ever text me early, happen to be the three ONLY ones I'd drop everything for if they had an emergency. Unfortunately for me, two of the three will just start texting at like 5:40am for no apparent reason. So I could put on Do Not Disturb except for these three, and it wouldn't help me.
