Has anyone gotten MCAP reports from 2023 testing?

Why would getting a report for a state mandated test with poorly calibrated metrics matter again? I'm grateful MCPS uses MAP not this broken test.

If students are required to sit for hours over days for tests that "don't matter," the state via the district is required to show families the results! If they can't get the results out in time, allow parents option to opt out their kid from having to sit for hours over days taking a tests that "don't matter!" Friends in other districts received results a long time ago. Students are close to taking this year's MCAP in a month or so and many MCPS families have still not received results from last Spring. Unacceptable, MCPS. Why doesn't the Board of Education do something about this! Embarrassing, MCPS.

Well, this just tell you how irrelevant this test is. The results don't matter, and no one cares except the state and a few DCUM agitators.

What it tells me is that mailing the results doesn’t matter. Having the data from the results is helpful to MSDE and MCPS. Parents have access to enough data and resources in schools and within the district to be able to understand and discuss how their individual child is doing.

It's a state test so wouldn't think MCPS has any involvement.

You would think wrong. The state printed them and gave them to MCPS in the fall to send out. They have had electronic access even longer.

Then why didn't the state just mail them out directly to parents?

Don’t know. But can tell you that I have friends in other MD school systems who got their reports in a timely manner. Only MCPS is incompetent enough not to be able to do this basic function. (They are supposed to mail them out within a month of receiving them.)

MCPS doesn't want to do secretarial work for the state. So deal with it.

MCPS doesn't want parents to know how badly their kids are doing.

The whole state is doing very poorly on MCAP tests

Well if "poor" is the average it sounds like the test just isn't properly calibrated but I guess that's understandable because it's a new and unproven test.

You right. I don't really care about MCAP as stated above.

If results don't matter, as another PP stated, agreed that students shouldn't have to sit for tests! Where IS the opt-out form, PP???

DP. I doubt the state would agree that the results don’t matter. That’s why they require school districts to distribute the individualized reports to parents within a month of the district having received them.

I doubt the state is focused on this at all.

The question was about " opt-out form". If PP wants to opt-out, she needs to talk to the state.

The state needs to get their act together and stop trying to push this off on local schools.
