Has anyone gotten MCAP reports from 2023 testing?

No,it's a state test that the county doesn't use and is still being debugged.

Except that Bio and Gov counts as 20% of the second semester grade beginning with class of ‘27. (Unless they take the AP test in those subjects, which not all schools offer.)

Sounds like you don’t care, which is fine. Have you to kid score a zero and take the hit on the grade.

Posted in another thread about MCAP scores. Those posters will be upset the following was posted on THEIR thread...Those who still haven't received scores? If they put a call out to recruit volunteers to stuff envelopes if that's where the hold up is, surely hundreds of grams and gramps would sign up to assist! Come on MCPS, think.

They claim results don't matter. So why give the tests in the first place?

They'll probably let mail the 22-23 report with the 23-24 report NEXT Spring. You know, to save on postage, because I'm if you haven't heard already- budget shortfall, um you know to pay for scandals and um payouts and um search agency form and um failed bus app....

Finally received my HS Junior's MCAP from 10th grade ELA today. The report contains virtually no information and arrives after PSAT, ACT, SAT. Beyond useless.

Yet these students have to waste several days each spring taking this useless test.

Have HS students who took the biology/government tests that count for 20% of the grade gotten results back yet?

These were mailed ages ago. If you don't have them, please write Mr. DeJoy, Trump's appointee who has run the USPS into the ground.

Why TF do they use these giant envelopes that probably cost double?

We just got ours (8th grade 2022-2023 MCAP Assessment Report) yesterday. It does seem to be very very late.

Such a small percentage in distinguished learner category!

Science 1% Level 4
Math 1% Level 4
English Lang Arts 3% Level 4
Social Studies 4% Level 4

My kid is a straight A kid who was in a Humanities magnet MS program and Geometry that year and got Level 3 across the board. Are they testing material that is just not well aligned? I would have expected maybe 5-10% in the State would be at Level 4 at least.

Also, it looks like the kids who were taking the Geometry in 8th grade took a Geometry test. Are the State performance numbers (what percentage of Maryland students got each performance level) then only those students in the accelerated track and taking Geometry in 8th grade?? It would seem surprising that 28% of such kids got Level 1 and 48% got Level 2. That is a lot of kids who were put on the accelerated track who didn't get to proficiency in Geometry!

No, they are testing based on common core standards. MCPS is not doing a good job at educating. As just one example — all of the novels my kid read in middle school English were well below the grade level Lexile band.
