Report of girl violently attacked at Lakelands Park middle school

I hope the parents of the victim make a police report and hold the other kids and the school responsible. If anyone has learned anything from past Mcps response to crimes within the school, they would do that.

So YES, taken OUT OF STATE to a high level peds trauma unit.

Not sure why you're emphasizing the "out of state." The closest options to a real ER are out of state.

It's significant because, here in the dmv, in general and Md specifically, there are numerous major hospitals and medical centers. The child's injuries were such that they required her being transported to a hospital out of state.

They went to Fairfax Hospital - closest trauma unit for those types of injuries.

How dumb can you be? Just the fact that the child was taken to a TRAUMA unit means it was serious.

It was a head injury. If you think there's any chance you might need a surgeon, you're really not going to want them to take you to Shady Grave, where there's a good chance they'd have to call someone in.

The fact that she was taken to a "trauma center" isn't as significant as you seem to think it is.

Are you a parent? What a SICK individual you must be to try to downplay and minimize what may be a life altering TBI that a child suffered at SCHOOL. It is indeed significant that she was taken all the way to Inova. I hope that she will not suffer permanent limitations from this vicious attack.

I’m not that poster but I’m pretty sure both suburban and Adventist are closer that Fairfax innova to lakelands and both of them are “real” ERs. That’s where my kids went for head traumas!

There is a media story, the school sent out a communication about the incident and many have seen the video. A child was taken to a ped trauma center in ANOTHER STATE due to the severity of her injuries.

Those rambling about Jan 6, etc., this is a serious matter. Sit down.

NP trying to catch up. So we know there was an altercation because the school sent an email. But do we know that the Inova thing is true? Was that in the school's email?

Aside from the person on NextDoor who claims their child was bulled by both of the kids in this fight, has anyone else claimed to have seen the video? Is it linked somewhere?

We do know there was no transfer to Inova.

And FOX pulled it's media down from it's orginal post

No other media reporting.

And this same group of people filed a report aganist MCPS in 2021 and it was debunked.

And no police report and nothing about MCPS case search either. If a police report was made it would be recorded and public record with minors names redacted.

Next Door is full of conspiracy theories.

You are outing yourself here trying to suppress this story.

Fox news probably pulled the story temporarily to verify. The story has been back since this morning.

I can't believe a possible felony assault is a school matter under the code of conduct.

I don't get it either but considering the Damascus rape case when mcps tried to sweep it under the rug, I guess this is normal for mcps.

Maybe the parent has to file the police report for action to be taken?

No, they're not. Those aren't fully staffed with specialists. Instead, they need to call them in. You don't want to go to either of those in a true emergency- especially Shady Grove.

A head injury is not serious? Wtf are you smoking? Someone responding deemed it significant enough when they took her there.

I didn't say it wasn't potentially serious. But the fact that they transported "out of state" isn't as significant as the pp seems to think it is.

There has been an interim principal for last 4 months

Rose Alvarez is not a good principal in my opinion - the current interim principal is much better

Yes, and the ones in-state happen to be further away than Inova Fairfax. Even the ones in DC, which would still be "out of state" are further away in terms of driving time.

Why do you post these lies? Adventist is 3 miles from LPMS.
Holy Cross is 6 miles.

Yet they went to Inova 23 miles from the school.
Why the lies?

Childrens Hospital with a concussion clinic is also 3 miles from LPMS. Yet they flew to Inova 23 miles away.

It was serious because she needed to go to a trauma center. Injuries like those described make it a felony assault, maybe more if death threats were actually made. There's nothing preventing the parents from contacting the police and making a report if that's what they wish to do. I hope they sue MCPS. I don't like that the county has to keep paying settlements but lawsuits seem to be the only thing they listen to.

Does the victim have to accept to this sit down or can they tell the school that they will not and still get to be in school?

No you never have to participate in this BS. Just say No.

Suburban isn't a pediatric trauma center and adventist isn't a trauma center at all. This poor girl's initial score on the Glasgow Coma Scale was deep in the severe range. It's sick that other posters are trying to downplay the severity the victim's injuries.

No, it's not. Children's Hospital is a longer drive away from LPMS than Inova. You might be thinking of an outpatient clinic.

How do you know her Glasgow Coma Scale score?
