Are we?

Because right now it’s looking like Trump is going to win the GOP primary.

Oh please. You all want him to win. The entire media is in simultaneous salivating/panic mode over it. Salivating that he will clench the nomination so they can have ratings bonanza talking about him nonstop again for the next six months. And panic that they might cause him to win again because they have learned absolutely nothing from ignoring voters last time.

^ Here is an example of Americans not being “smarter than this”. So embarrassing.

Oh hey that’s a great strategy. Insult and talk down to those who aren’t in lockstep with your political ideaology. That always works out well.

We know from experience that it’s worthless to reason with irrational people.

The fact that Trump is winning primaries shows us that we are not “smarter than this”. We have millions of proudly ignorant people in this country.

DP, but did it never occur to you (genius that you are) that a huge swathe of the country voted for him in the first place because they felt totally disenfranchised and ignored? Of course not. You dug in your heels and continued to ridicule/talk down to them and insultingly dismiss their grievances as mere “racism” (and any other “isms” you could think of). And then you were shocked and outraged when these same people had the audacity to vote for him AGAIN. And now here you, repeating the same ignorant cycle.

It’s not JUST the Trump voters who are “proudly ignorant”…

So what does he offer that no other Republican can?

Nope. Not ignorant people. Lots of folks who are fed up with the left and making a statement (that the left refuses to listen to) - we’d rather vote for Trump than any of the garbage you’re offering up. And honestly, I get it.

You’re proving my point.

And yet, you still won’t change. Interesting.

What is it you all actually stand for other than hating the libs?

You seriously have to ask? How about harsher criminal punishments instead of letting the jacka$$es run amok in dc (and many other areas in the US). And tightening up the borders, to start?

You mean like the ones who stormed the capitol or your former president. SUre, I'm all for not letting the criminals run amock. Lets start with them.

If you’re comparing the participants of Jan 6 with carjackers, drug dealers and murderers, there is no rational conversation to be had here.

I absolutely am! They broke the law. Therefore, they are criminals.

And you think this makes your point look…reasonable? Lord almighty if this is the nonsense coming from some parts of the left we really are doomed.

Why do you not think they are criminals? Or do you think they are just patriots who acted because they thought they were saving us from the evil Dems? Please explain why you think they are not criminals. Most of them are sitting in jail now btw so there were laws on the books against that kid of behavior.

I never once said they weren’t. I said they are not the same as those who participated in Jan 6. It’s a huge problem that you are equating them to murderers. There are different levels of criminal behavior - which is why we have different levels of punishment.
I feel like I’m talking to a 5 year old.

Genocide and segregation? Yes, the USA has a history of both. I hope we as a nation has moved beyond that. Unfortunately, Israel is still practicing such atrocities. Shame.

Is this the point at which we discuss the atrocities toward gay men and women that are still being practiced and supported in Palestine, or no?

We are talking about the USA. Stop trying to gaslight and whataboutism. Put on your big girl panties and stand on your own without saying, "but mommy, Johnny does so and so , whine"

DP but the bolded statements/terminology make you sound like an absolute fool.

Fools recognize fools. Good for you.

They quite literally killed innocent capitol police officers so they are murderers. Maybe not first or second degree since it was a riot, but their actions resulted in deaths. The fact that you can't admit that and see it for what it is sick. So how are they different from other criminals?

I am a Republican, so of course I love the United States ( as imperfect as it may be).

No country is perfect, but if you are honest (and not some partisan progressive hack), the United States is still the best country on the planet.

No thank you. Not when I have a gay child and the Israelis are standing in the way of this practice being put into place “from the river to the sea”

Are you in freaking Israel? Is your child in Gaza? Get a freaking grip. Your gay child can be bullied and killed in the good old USA. Your trans kid can be denied services in, wait for it, most states in the USA. Again, stop with the whataboutism of Gaza when you write nonsense that the USA and Israel share the same values. What values are those exactly. Do you mean dropping bombs on 10 year old kids? Do you mean taking out all the hospitals in the area after dropping the bombs on the 12 year old kids? What are those values that are shared. With that said, Biden needs to go for supporting these atrocities. Again this thread is about the USA and typical of so many on DCUM, you've made it about Israel. Please understand that Israel is not the be all for most Americans. Just is not and I don't care how many times you want us to make it so, it is not. So let's get back to the topic about being an American and not an Israeli or Gazan. Jeeze, the entitlement and look at me mentality.

DP

War is hell. It always has been, it always will be. Just as different groups of humans always have and always will compete with each other (often violently) for finite resources. Most other groups in this world do NOT share your delusion that we are living in some utopia where everyone gets along and plays nice. I suggest you study some history and start worrying about preserving your way of life for your own people rather than worrying about some other people who (sorry to be the one to tell you) could not give less of a **** about you and your “values”.

Okay Killer!

No, that is a lie.

No officers died on January 6th. One single officer suffered an unrelated stroke the following day, and subsequently passed away.

Stop lying PP.

Again, you can’t reason with irrational people. There is nothing anyone can say or do to make them change their vote.

Criminals are criminals. You probably think someone who creates a financial ponzi scheme and bilk millions from others should get probation. However someone who walks into Safeway and walkout without paying for the sixty-dollar ham and steak should be sent to the penitentiary.

Yeah clean air, equal pay, healthcare for all, access to safe abortion is pure evil, I tell ya!

You forgot low/no punishment for criminals which increases the crime rate and trauma to innocent victims, basically open borders and spending shitloads on illegals to the detriment of many Americans, economy, in the toilet…

The economy is in the toilet? News to me. Unemployment is record low, the stock market is doing great, and inflation is decreasing (not the result of anything Biden did). Historically both the deficit and the economy have done better under Democrats. If you want to talk about meaningful immigration reform, sure, we can do that. But it ain't building the wall. Is the crime better in poor Alabama or Oklahoma where it's mostly republicans running the show? Nope.

Don’t waste your breath. PP is incapable of a rational discussion.
