The message as far as I've seen it is three-fold:
1. Israel has a right to exist.
2. Release the hostages.
3. Antisemitism is bad.

Good message. Would be good to see Muslims joining in, just as Jews join in the pro-Palestinian marches.

I imagine #1 is a sticking point.

Why would it be? Two-state solution and all.

Does the Open Society foundation fund these rallies too?

Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC) is offering $250 for college students to attend the Pro-Israel rally on 11/14 in Washington, DC. The rally is expected to be one of the largest pro-Israel rallies in history. The rally is sponsored by the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

To get reimbursed for travel expenses, students just need to fill out the brief form below. Again, ICC is offering $250 per student to attend the rally in Washington, DC.

Come on Jeff, how biased can you be. Of course travel to the “free Palestine” protest was subsidized too: https://indyliberationcenter.org/answerindiana/indy-to-dc-national-march-free-palestine/

Curious where you are getting your anti-Israel memes to disseminate on your website …

These are not the same things. Your link offers a discounted ticket. No stipend money or anything. The link I posted offers $250 plus reimbursement for travel. What I posted is not a "meme". It is an article from crownheights.info website.

Why can't you engage in honest discussion? You can offer any number of justifications for the $250 payments that would be reasonable. But, instead you make the ridiculous suggestion that a $250 payment plus reimbursed travel expenses is the same as a discounted bus ticket. You aren't even making an effort to be serious.

And pray tell how did you come to be perusing the Crown Heights jewish website? Because you’re looking for fake news to amplify on your website. There are multiple places online you can find that talk about subsidizing attendance at the pro-Palestine protest yet you choose to ignore that and pretend the Jewish supporters are doing something dishonest by doing the exact same thing.

I posted accurate and legitimate information. None of it was "fake news". I can understand that you are embarrassed that students are being offered $250 and reimbursement for travel expenses to attend the rally. If I were you, I would be embarrassed as well. I in no way said that anyone was doing anything dishonest. I would love to see you post even a single time in good faith. But, you simply don't appear capable of such a thing.

I’m not embarrassed at all because the most cursory google search shows that similar travel subsidies were offered for the “free Palestine” protest. I AM wondering what source led you to dig up what you thought was some kind of embarassing dig off an obscure Jewish website, then amplify it on your own much more high profile site.

You are clearly upset that I posted this information which reported that much more than travel subsidies were being offered. Maybe you are not embarrassed, but you are clearly bothered. You even claimed that it was fake news.

A poster earlier in this thread, and in another thread as well, expressed concern that a midweek demonstration would not attract participation. I came across this offer of $250 plus travel expenses in my X feed and it made me think of that poster. I would think that you would be glad that I amplified it as it might help with recruitment.

No Jeff, the offer was $250 to pay for travel expenses. You are making up that they are getting paid to attend. $250 is probably a similar value to all the buses that were paid for by Palestine supporters. This is “fake news” because a) you are spreading a lie (that they are paying $250 in addition to travel reimbursement) and b) you are suggesting that paying for travel is some kind of shameful thing and Jews are manipulating the crowd - a well-known antisemitic trope as well (“Soros-funded protestors!!!”). When in fact the Palestinian crowd did exactly the same thing.

You are making this out to be much bigger deal than it really needs to be. Especially if you don't think anything is wrong with it. If you thought this was perfectly normal, you would have just said that like the poster above. But you are all bent out of shape about it. Here is the article again:

https://crownheights.info/jewish-news/840736/israel-on-campus-coalition-offers-250-grant-for-college-students-to-attend-washington-dc-israel-rally/

It says, "Israel on Campus Coalition Offers $250 Grant". Note, "grant" not reimbursement. Not "subsidy". Later it says:

"To get reimbursed for travel expenses, students just need to fill out the brief form below. Again, ICC is offering $250 per student to attend the rally in Washington, DC."

That sounds to me like it is a reimbursement for travel expenses and $250 to attend. Maybe that is simply poor wording and I am misunderstanding. If that is the case, you can just explain that without all the accusations that I am spreading fake news and antisemitism. I quoted from the article directly in my first post so I am not sure what would be fake about it. It says what it says.

Anyway, here is how a normal conversation would go: "hey, a group is paying $250 to attend the rally" with a reply, "Yeah, that's normal". But, instead, you have to claim that it is fake news and antisemitism. Your reaction is not normal.

It clearly says the grant is for transportation. Which is exactly what numerous Palestinian groups did.

NP. I also find it interesting that you would peruse the Crown Heights website. I am Jewish and never even heard of it. I do see a trend with you are only posting negative things about all things Israel going back years. And of course your comments about Shani Louk were eyebrow raising. On the pro-Palestine rally thread you tried to create a narrative that the Hamas flags were really tiny and no one paid attention to them, the rally was no anti semitic, etc. I foresee that after the pro-Israel march, you will be back here writing about vandalism, right wing conspiracies, Jewish money (well that you already started). You can go ahead and delete my comment. Your Shani Louk comments are out there in the universe forever.

Jeff thanks for posting. It’s naive not to see the money at play here. One side is more funded than the other hence billionaires threatening to pull money from campuses they perceive as critical of Israel in any manner.

They are not threatening, they will pull donations to those campsites . People, even Jews, are free to do what they want with their money. Arab countries have given at least $8 billion to US elite universities in recent years. The other side is well funded too. Hold on to your tin hat it’s about to fly away https://wpde.com/amp/news/nation-world/foreign-countries-send-billions-of-dollars-to-top-us-universities-not-a-surprise-were-seeing-anti-israel-protests-on-college-campuses-ivy-league-middle-east-qatar

The oldest anti semitic tripe in the world is how rich Jews are. Arabs are 2 billion people of the world vs 15 million (with an M) of Jews. Yes there are very many wealthy Jews (inviting lots of hate) AMD as many have pointed out on these threads Arabs are some of the worlds wealthiest and most educated. It’s naive to think one side is more or less funded than the other. And if you truly believe that pro Palestinian supporters are less funded/less professionally organized… even though statistics are in their favor then the question is why aren’t the ultra wealthy Arab states (or Iran or Russian and Iranian proxies) supporting them more. And I think either they ARE and you just don’t want to admit it because it doesn’t fit the narrative of “well only the Jews do it” OR they aren’t and that doesn’t fit the narrative that Arabs super care about the Palestinians. I don’t have an answer for you but please stop with the antisemitism.

I am not sure about a “pro-Israel” protest.

The best thing for knocking back antisemitism at this point would be for the IDF to meet its goal of, inter alia, dismantling Hamas in Gaza. There are many, many very difficult steps ahead in that awful campaign, but so far it sounds like IDF is proceeding successfully with close-quarters ground combat with close air support. Only the biggest pro-Hamas booster would now deny that Hamas positions weaponry adjacent to schools and operates militarily, so to speak, out of hospitals.

There is no need for a protest to point this out. The sad fact, too, is that with all the antisemitism out there, pro-Israel protesters’ safety is a real concern. I suppose, though, that a protest could 1) remind the world about Hamas’ October 7 aggression, snd 2) call for the release of the hostages.

The other “team” (Pres. Biden’s term) can then march, yet again.

You're a smart guy and know very well how powerful and dangerous the (fiercely antisemitic) image of rich Jews using their money to pull strings behind the scenes has been for a thousand years. This argument is beneath you. I know you support the national aspirations of the Palestinian people. That is not unreasonable. But if you aren't an antisemite, you have no business harnessing the vocabulary and imagery of classic antisemitism to support your points.

Also, yes, if you were indeed reading in good faith (I used to think you did even if your conclusions differed from mine), you were mistaken about the $250. Travel funds.
