Nearly 1,000 people flew from Detroit to DC on chartered flights and buses were hired to take them from Dulles Airport to the National Mall. However, several buses failed to show up — drivers had organized a “mass sick out” day upon learning they would be taking hundreds of Jewish Americans to the pro-Israel rally. Approximately 300 people were left stranded on the tarmac for 11 hours before being sent back home.
This is not the only report of chartered buses canceling on Jewish groups heading to the rally, which was attended by 290,000+ people, despite antisemites’ efforts to sabotage it.”

Shameful, if true.

Yes, I heard from people there that this happened. I think there were also people in NY and Philadelphia who had chartered busses that did not show up.

Those companies need to be named.

That’s what I find odd about the story. I have no doubt this could have happened, but why not name them?

It's also odd that it only happened to people coming from Detroit. It sounds more like someone made a mistake in reserving the buses.

It happened in Ny too. Some charted buses did not come to pick people up.

The NYT has a story today about the inflammatory language being used by prominent Israelis- calling Palestinians “human animals,” calling for flattening of Gaza, eliminating Palestinians… it’s troubling that so many Americans are lining up to support Israel and this genocide. They should be calling for a more moderate replacement to Israel’s leader.

Very peaceful and respectful. No destroying property, climbing on statues, etc. Speakers from both sides united against terrorism!

You forgot the main theme: Let's support genocide and slaughter thousands of children and women.

This is an easy one. Hamas really can't continue to exist. Hamas is also the reason why the Palestinians don't have a state.

I hope Israel is successful at eliminating Hamas root, stem, and branch.

Israel is why Palestinians are stateless. They deprived them of a state well before Hamas ever came into existence

Hamas is the result of decades of state sponsored terrorism and oppression. Israel needs to end the occupation

What are you even talking about? Palestinians have rejected two state solution many times.

Because none of the deals allowed for control of E Jerusalem or a right of return for Palestinians. Olmhert didn't even let the PA look at the map he was offering for them. None of these attempts were genuine. With an Israeli continued right of return, the decimation of Palestinians under any of these deals was guaranteed. The only reason Israel offered any of these alleged deals was so that people like you could then say that the PA thwarted the efforts, which was false. If Israel would stop killing them, we'd have peace. But Israelis cannot help themselves.

Being pro-genocide has consequences. They are not victims. They’re being called out for their support of terrorism.

Plus if the bus drivers were Muslim, Arabs or POC, they could have rightly feared for their safety particularly in light of the pro-Israel’s stance on ethnic cleansing and apartheid, and years of crimes against native groups. I’d have been terrified if I’d have been assigned to a pro genocide rally

To barrow a phrase from William F Buckley Jr, ... "to say... engage in similar practices is the equivalent of saying that the man who pushes an old lady into the path of a hurtling bus is not to be distinguished from the man who pushes an old lady out of the path of a hurtling bus: on the grounds that, after all, in both cases someone is pushing old ladies around."

He was talking about the CIA and KGB but it's equally applicable here.

Except Israelis have never once tried pushing a lady out of harms way. Their MO is usually to flatten the lady with a tank. And then throw pancake parties to celebrate her death.

Do you have a link for that? I've only found them for the group from Detroit.

That’s like saying a lot of Americans are lining up to support trump. Would you write off our legitimacy as a country because there are lunatics here who put trump in power?

I’m in NY and also heard about this happening with a chartered bus from CT. The people ended up carpooling and driving themselves.

And anecdotally I heard about the chartered bus issue also happening to people coming from Texas.

So look where Palestinians are now. You actually think it would be worse if they accepted the earlier deal?

It is a very important point because it calls the Israeli/Jewish population for capitalizing on their inherent racial privilege. It is also how Israel is able to manipulate so much media. The Western world has significant implicit (and overt) bias against Arabs and Muslims and Israel takes advantage because they are generally white and Euro looking.

The media is decidedly pro-Palestinian. What are you even talking about?
And Israelis are NOT generally white and "Euro-looking", whatever that means.

Jews are white. Israeli propaganda machine banks on that to garner sympathy in the western world. People like you don't care much about brown people so how on Earth would Israel finagle so much money out of the US tax payer without leveraging race?

Folks, we have now entered the post-post parody stage of posts, with posts like this.

Wait you think Israelis are not white?

Some are white. Some are not.

A lot of people have bought into the nonsense of Israeli being some sort of "white, settler nation." The whole settler nation nonsense is popular these days with empty-headed progressives.

They've probably never met any Israelis, if they believe the average Israeli looks like someone from England or Maryland.

Yes. Trump did indeed harm the credibility of our country and the legitimacy of our actions. If he gets elected again while running on a platform of open fascism it will be even worse.

Bibi, Smotrich, Ben Gvir, and all the rest have never hidden how they feel. They have never hidden their disdain for both peace and Palestinians. That is the main plank of the ultra-right. It's not something that can be hand waved away.

The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. How much better off would they be now if they had accepted that deal?

Has there been any official number count - how many people were there?

Finally, something we can agree on.

I don't see how he survives this - but I guess I've been surprised by his resiliency before.
