He only cut one of the women in her 70s.
Two of the women he cut were among the youngest, and one of them, Anna, was definitely one of the thinnest/most conventionally attractive.

Yup, I was shocked when Anna was cut. Bc the prettiest/sexiest usually sticks around to at least week 3. And she was far and away the best looking.

Watching him talk about his wife and break down, I suddenly start to feel bad for the guy. Like he doesnt know what he's getting in to and might be a bit too trusting of the production crew

Um, no.

I think Nancy (from our very own DMV area) is the best looking woman there. We didn't see but a second of time with her, so I assume they'll make more of her in future episodes. I know she isn't the one for Gerry --- I think your location and the influence of the area (i.e. city vs. rural, fast vs. slow paced) makes a HUGE difference. You HAVE to match on these things when you are 70-ish. When you are in your 20s or 30s, you can adapt more and become more urban or rural. But, once you've lived your life, you're going to relate to people who are used to the same "speed" that you are living. Gerry is a nice, sincere guy. But, I don't see him as being a DC-type or a Kennedy Center type of person. He's going to need someone who already lives the same life style he is living.

At 70-something, you're not looking to push yourself out of your comfort zone. You're looking for someone who fits the SAME life style and speed you are living.

This is a great point. He's looking for an active lifestyle centered on his dream house on the lake, plus some fun travel. Some of these ladies are still working FT as well. Are they planning to immediately retire to go hang out with him?

He should have given a rose to Aunt Chippy, she would bring it.

Most people don't get that way until 80+.

BS- I'm 54 and at least half my friends already have arthritis.

I'm 56 and already have arthritis. At least a few of these people need to have a knee brace or something.

Really? Why is this assumed? I’m 62 and I don’t need a knee brace thank you.

This incarnation of the show demonstrates how fully the genre has jumped the shark.

They're all lovely and I love that they're all age-appropriate (at the Bachelor's request).
Yes, there's some obvious fillers, veneers and a lot of photoshop, but that's no different from the 20-something contestants. You can still see plenty of wrinkles and normal looking aging arms.

I'm totally stoked for this.

There are also some obvious face lifts; not just filler. Watching the first episode; Some are trying way to hard, do you think?

Well, yeah, lol. It wouldn't be The Bachelor without the try-hards. The one who kissed him super hard -- ugh, that was just embarrassing. I wanted her to not get a rose, lol. But she kinda forced him into giving her one. We'll see how long she lasts.
I have not watched this show after Tristen and Ryan.

Same, girl. I knew it couldn't get better than them.

I just really cannot imagine being attracted to an old guy. My grandmother was widowed in her 50s and never dated, and I get it.

Older women don’t avoid dating because there are no attractive older men - it’s not about looks, because our looks have changed a lot, too.

Many older women have no interest in dating because they know a lot about how most men behave and they want no part of it anymore, especially when their libido has dropped off a cliff and so they no longer have the horny hormones screaming at them to ignore all the male pathology. In midlife and beyond the red flags scream much louder because horny has mostly gone home.

I'm 62. Bolded is true for sure but speak for yourself when you talk about libido dropping off a cliff! Mine is just fine, thank you. I love my DH dearly, but if he were to depart, I would be very content to stay single with my lovely circle of women friends, my dog, and my vibrator!

The show is pretty cringeworthy as it's hard to see women my age throwing themselves at this man.

+1, another 62-year-old here and my libido is just fine, thank you very much.

I think he’s attractive.

This is not true if they have HRT therapy. I am on HRT and am 62 and horny.

HRT isn’t necessary.

I think he likes Faith -- I do too.

But, the way he was interacting with Teresa (??) (the one with the birthday cupcake) -- I think she's the winner. She has a huge smile and I think Gerry really likes her positive energy and sweet, understated style.

My money is on her for the win.

Anyone have a picture of Faith they can post? I don't remember her.

She is the one who rode in on a motorcycle and played guitar and sang him a song. She seems cool.

https://abc.com/shows/the-golden-bachelor/cast/2023-faith

She seems contrived to me. Def put a lot of thought into her “performance”

+1. She didn’t seem all that comfortable on the motorcycle either.

+1 and some latin pool boys for variety. also one of the options every season should be a golden retriever, like if the bach really does not want to marry any of the options then choose the dog instead of choosing the least bad contestant.

Haha I love this

Maybe. But it could also be a smart direction considering the aging population and who watches network TV.
