I just really cannot imagine being attracted to an old guy. My grandmother was widowed in her 50s and never dated, and I get it.

Older women don’t avoid dating because there are no attractive older men - it’s not about looks, because our looks have changed a lot, too.

Many older women have no interest in dating because they know a lot about how most men behave and they want no part of it anymore, especially when their libido has dropped off a cliff and so they no longer have the horny hormones screaming at them to ignore all the male pathology. In midlife and beyond the red flags scream much louder because horny has mostly gone home.
This is not true if they have HRT therapy. I am on HRT and am 62 and horny.

1. I am used to seeing white men bachelors on the show make pretty quick work of eliminating black women contestants. Nothing would shock me more than if he ends up with a black woman.

2. I would be judging the shit out of my DH from beyond my grave if after I die he participates in a show where grown women “compete” to date him. I have for sure hate-watched this show and gotten sucked in rooting for certain contestants but always knowing in the back of my head that this show is unseemly.

3. Gerry looks leathery and nothing about the idea of f—king him or having his hands on me god forbid open mouth kissing him sounds appealing. His smile is less Robert Redford and more game show host.

Go away then. Move on to another post.

I can't think of any media that has made me confront the horrifying betrayal of aging than seeing these grandmas trying to date.

What I wish the women did (and maybe the cant/won't bc it's the TV show) is display the wisdom that comes with being older. Try to get to know Gerry and see if its a match! Have some thoughts on whether its a fit. Assuming a guy is the love of your life/best thing ever immediately is what we did naively when we were 20. It still could be an interesting show if they acted their age!

"I'm falling in love" after meeting someone or one or two dates with them is one reason I've never watched any bachelor iterations. The outcome doesn't need to be a proposal.

I want to see the real old people stuff, farts, denture cream, pooping in pants, Bengay, arthritis, constant complaining, getting irritated with each other, saggy asses, saggy balls, saggy tittays, burps, sore back, watching TV really loud, taking many pills, going to doctors and emergency rooms, medical issues, more hearing aids, falling asleep on dates, incontinence. He should have given a rose to Aunt Chippy, she would bring it.

This is an ageist view of aging. Those issues are not common to most people in their 60s and 70s. Healthy and successful aging is pretty normal.

They're all lovely and I love that they're all age-appropriate (at the Bachelor's request).
Yes, there's some obvious fillers, veneers and a lot of photoshop, but that's no different from the 20-something contestants. You can still see plenty of wrinkles and normal looking aging arms.

I'm totally stoked for this.

There are also some obvious face lifts; not just filler. Watching the first episode; Some are trying way to hard, do you think?

Well, yeah, lol. It wouldn't be The Bachelor without the try-hards. The one who kissed him super hard -- ugh, that was just embarrassing. I wanted her to not get a rose, lol. But she kinda forced him into giving her one. We'll see how long she lasts.
I have not watched this show after Tristen and Ryan.

The "horrifying betrayal of aging" as you call it is a reality of life, if we are fortunate to live long enough to live to see it. It affects everyone who lives. Why not work on acceptance rather than denial.

Most people don't get that way until 80+.

I think he likes Faith -- I do too.

But, the way he was interacting with Teresa (??) (the one with the birthday cupcake) -- I think she's the winner. She has a huge smile and I think Gerry really likes her positive energy and sweet, understated style.

My money is on her for the win.

Anyone have a picture of Faith they can post? I don't remember her.

She is the one who rode in on a motorcycle and played guitar and sang him a song. She seems cool.

Some were acting like tweens. A second youth? Not all dignified for sure.

She seems contrived to me. Def put a lot of thought into her “performance”

+1 and some latin pool boys for variety. also one of the options every season should be a golden retriever, like if the bach really does not want to marry any of the options then choose the dog instead of choosing the least bad contestant.

I'd love to see April as the first Golden Bachelorette.

Well, we're ALL already seeing more of her than we want to! Please NO! Sure, she'll be a hot mess and make good t.v. But, I do not want to see more of April... less, PLEASE!

Yeah, the clucking chicken lady needs to go

I HATE her. She's going to make it to the end though, it's pretty obvious given how much time they spent on her.

She'll make it through because we all hate her -- and we are probably supposed to. A friend of mine was a producer on Joe Millionaire many moons ago. The producers definitely influence who stays around -- they have to, to make sure the storyline is as interesting as it can be. So obnoxious/weird/villain types that the leading man might want to get rid of sooner rather than later are always kept around for a long time for dramatic purposes.

DCUM is the only place where people hate her.
But she doesn't make it to the end, so don't worry.

He only cut one of the women in her 70s.
Two of the women he cut were among the youngest, and one of them, Anna, was definitely one of the thinnest/most conventionally attractive.

Yup, I was shocked when Anna was cut. Bc the prettiest/sexiest usually sticks around to at least week 3. And she was far and away the best looking.

Watching him talk about his wife and break down, I suddenly start to feel bad for the guy. Like he doesnt know what he's getting in to and might be a bit too trusting of the production crew
