Kate Middleton looks really happy lately

So, I’d say it was Will’s idea if I had to guess. It seems like he can’t stand to be around Kate lately.

+1. She's a ride or die for sure.

Don't buy this. Although an eventual split wouldn't surprise me, not while the kids are young I don't think.

I'm not a big H&M fan but I don't see divorce on the horizon at least in the immediate future.

Agreed, though I'm basically neutral on them (not a fan, but I don't hate either of them the way many seem to). Not only do I think they'd ever split while the kids are young, I actually think recent events have bonded them together even more. Harry's book threw him all in with Meghan and with his position that he (and they collectively) have been wronged by the family and staying was intolerable. Like so many of his grievances that are now publicly aired have nothing at all to do with Meghan, but she's backing him up and supporting him while his family approaches it all with an arm's length approach and less emotionality. They are a unit now and he would not be welcomed back to the BRF with open arms at this point, so they are all in on that marriage for the foreseeable future.

They are both products of divorce, severe dysfunction and mental illness. Throw in the stress of abandoning your family and friends and moving to another country--with very little if any contact to those old friends and it is really a huge obstacle...huge, huge. He gave up everything and he's isolated on this side of the pond without any good mates--not great confidants. That does not bode well for their future.

I don’t think they’ll divorce while the kids are young, but this factor has to be enormous. I can’t imagine the emotional and cultural dislocation he must feel. Harry himself probably didn’t understand exactly what he was giving up, because he’d never known anything else. The stories about him thinking Putin would be on his podcast actually ring true, because he came from a milieu where his Grandmother could command the presence of any world leader. He must have thought (still think?) that the respect and power would travel with him to the US. If he and Meghan would have been happy being a relatively anonymous rich people, they could have accomplished that in Britain. They could have disappeared to a country estate (a gift of the King, with their state provided security) and, over time, become one of the random Royal uncles and aunts that appear occasionally at various official functions. Instead, they convinced themselves that they would make their own way and show the Royal family that they weren’t needed. Talk about being born on third base and thinking you hit a triple.

There is zero chance Harry and Meghan could’ve retired to the British country side. The British press would not have let up on them if they’d remained in the country.

I do agree that H had no idea how hard isolating himself in another country would be however, we have no idea if his friends make regular trips here to the states and who their social circle is. I hope it’s not just the four of them and their live-in help and her mom. That’s not great for long term happiness.

People who say the press would never leave them alone are probably very young and don’t remember how much coverage other royals got when they were young. Once they’re older, they get replaced by the younger set in the public eye. Andrew got as much coverage as Harry when he was young, and then was almost completely forgotten until he got himself in trouble. If they wanted a private life, they could have had one. It’s clear they don’t.

That’s so sad.

What’s sad is you autocratically believing whatever is said about them.

IKR!

Good thing people in their circles are talking about them being on the rocks.

Damn, the way her face drops zoomed in when he walks away. I can’t tell if she’s pissed or in disbelief. Did he basically leave her or was this a mutual separation? I believe it now!

It's gone on forever. The video of him taking off in the rain with an umbrella while leaving her to fend for herself (Harry actually stepped up and escorted her) was just despicable. They'll never divorce but this is definitely not a marriage of equals and hasn't been since he was forced to shit or get off the pot with her by his dad. They lead separate lives and didn't even live together during covid.

She's tough as nails to take this crap and that's her defining feature.

I actually felt bad for her back then. William has always been so disrespectful to her.

The press lost interest in Andrew after he got divorced, stopped having kids, and got old. So yeah, the press will lose interest in H&M eventually, but right now interest is still sky high. If they’d stayed in England, whether in London or the countryside, the press focus would have been incredibly intense when Lillibet was born, for instance. They were definitely afforded more privacy around that time in the US than they ever would have had in the UK. Especially in LA where there are lots of ways for celebrities to hide from the press when they want to.

Saying “oh the press would have left you alone in 10-15 years” is not the trump card you think it is here.

Aww, I miss the Obamas. 😢

But, yes, literally everyone other than her husband shows Kate kindness. Can you imagine living with such a selfish pig as William? The poor thing must be starved for affection.

Andrew got less coverage because the Palace put the squeeze on networks like ABC not to report on him.

And you are generally comparing apples and oranges because the volume of coverage William and Harry received from heir mom’s death onward blows everyone else out of the water.

My takeaway:

Obama is a gentleman and Americans are more casual and touchy.

The Brits are very, very used to rain and a little mist is no big deal to them…but it is a big deal to black women and their men realize it.

Will and Kate will go the distance. She’s given him everything he didn’t have as a child: love and stability. He’s not as touchy/feely as she is, but that makes sense given his upbringing and duty. He’s all stuffy Brit Royal in public, but he is starting to show signs of easing up thanks to her comfortable approach. She’s very authentic at public appearances.

+1. She's a ride or die for sure.

She has no options though. No family money to fall back on, no titles of her own, no career to go back to. She actually kind of reminds me of the part in Hamilton where Angelica Schuyler is singing about how since she is the oldest it’s her responsibility to marry someone of social status to continue to elevate the family.

Of course they’ll make it. But while it’s obvious what she brings to the table he really behaves towards her like he’s the prize and it’s hard to conceptualize what he offers besides money and prestige. He doesn’t seem to dote on her the way Charles does on Camilla (even though she sucks), he has a horrible messed up family who they also have to work with, and there’s always rumors about his bad temper/infidelity.

No skills, no talent… except for her great capacity for endurance. 😆😆

Sigh.

Poor Will has essentially become tabloid fodder as he’s risen in the ranks. Of course there will be infidelity rumors, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

Will and Kate seem to live together, not apart. They’ve built a fairly normal family life centered around their kids. They aren’t leading separate lives like his parents. They have one home, he isn’t off running around.

And I think they look happy in public appearances.

So much jealousy here. wills and Kate are an awesome team. Should be king and queen right now.

And they’ll never have to deal with the “duchess” again.
