Just because people may support Joe in the election doesn’t mean he will have won over the hearts and minds of independents who are the largest voting block. I meet so many jaded, disenfranchised, formerly rah-rah Dems, who hate trump. Some were Bernie Bros and others are just fed up and are looking for centrist candidates beyond &0 year olds. |
The voters will disagree with you but that is how this goes. You like trump. Most of the voters do not. That is how it gets settled. |
Buttigieg is never going to be president. Not because he's gay but because he doesn't connect with enough voters. I am pinning a lot of future hope on Whitmer. But she hasn't been tested on a national stage yet. I hope once she is, she holds up. Warnock is another who I think has loads of national potential. We will see. 2028 is coming. Not one of these candidates is ready to take over from Biden today. (I used to work with Nguse's wife! That's just a small world thing.) |
DP — plenty of voters who will choose Biden over Trump do think Biden’s presidency has been horrible or at least not great. I am not one. PP is exactly the kind of person equates a vote with full support of a candidate. |
1. there is nothing voters can do, that's the entire point of gerrymandering. 2. there was a voting rights bill that Biden exerted zero political capital on, but we got a bunch of bridges, so lets all praise old joe |
Whoohoo Let's lick the world in 2024! |
Suppress speech? So dramatic! There are about a billion things you can talk about. If you choose to focus on Biden's shortcomings despite the flood of other things that are worse in the world which could also command your attention, I think that's counterproductive. |
Who is suppressing speech? You can say whatever you want (well, except maybe in Florida), just be prepared for people to disagree, sometimes strongly. |
Walk me through the end game of focusing on the flaws of a Biden-Harris candidacy. What utility is there to such a focus? What changes for the better if we focus on these flaws? Are you thinking maybe, after the discussion, the Democrats go with someone better? Because I don't think that's a viable option. Maybe if we talk about the flaws, Biden and Harris do something that reduces the flaws? Maybe some types of issues they have, I guess. But if we're talking about Biden's age or Harris's lack of charisma, those things aren't going away. If there's some strategic value to this kind of discussion that makes the world better in some way, I'm happy to listen. But from where I'm sitting, it looks like a classic Democratic circular firing squad that makes Democrats weaker, helps Republicans, probably makes the world worse, and almost certainly does not make it any better. |
Actual independents who are paying attention will not vote for the republicans. |
Last time I checked, it was the republicans who are banning books and using their government position to attack businesses who cater to customers the republicans don't like. |
While I agree - and thanks for the reminder - I think it is stunning that there is not a younger person ready to be embraced by Biden and all Democrats. Having campaigned for Biden after Pete bowed out, I am disappointed. No slight to Biden - he’s been great, but this is ridiculous. I think a strong third party candidate will emerge. |
This means: Stay tuned for the surprise candidate. |
Sorry but Independents are not the largest voting block. Moderate Dems maybe, but they won't vote for Trump over Biden. You I's think you are bigger than you are. YOu know WHO will be the biggest voting block in 2024 - Women who want to have a say on what we can do with our bodies and Gen Z. And they sure's heck ain't voting for a GOP. |
