Curious what the final pick was and what other schools this student had on their list?
My DD is also interested in CS and Econ and has Northwestern on her list to look at in the future. People have suggested Vandy and WUSTL to her , but she isn't as interested in them from a geographic perspective For what it's worth - nephew went to Vandy and is a recent grad, doing very well |
+1 Plus, NU is the best option anyway. |
Disappointed ? |
Meh. Overly liberal Chicago is getting worse in terms of safety and other factors, made worse by the current mayor |
In reality, they are all very close. So smart people go with the one that is the "best fit" for their kid and their intended major(s) and areas of interest. Going to any of these schools is an excellent choice---let your kid go to the one that they want to, because that is where they will do the best. |
NU is not IN Chicago. It's a suburb and as safe as any campus can be that is urban/near a large city. But I concur, NU is statistically the best choice for those majors. The beauty of the campus and the strong academics makes up for the "weather". It's a great place to spend 4 years (or more if inclined to go to grad school there) |
You overgeneralize. |
The NU booster(s) seem unwilling to let this post from 4/3 end |
Northwestern University is not in the city of Chicago; it is in Evanston--an upscale suburb of Chicago. No atypical worries regarding safety. |
Which, btw, is the same for WUSTL, an upscale suburb of St. Louis |
Evanston is not that upscale compared to the rest of the North Shore. Some areas are not very safe at all. |
I'll take Chicago all-day every day over some sheethole red state. |
That's you. Enjoy your failed city just like so many other democrat led cities |
But those "not so safe areas" are not the ones nearby campus. You don't accidentally go wandering thru the not safe areas of Evanston. But yes, Evanston is actually not upscale compared to most of the north shore. |
You mean all of the blue areas that feed the lazy red areas? |
