OMG, it's not that hard to figure out.

IRS agent recruiters visited my grad school; they wanted young, fresh accountants. You had to go through the weeks-long special agent training in Georgia and you essentially became an accountant agent investigating financial crimes. Think mafia, racketeering, tax evading, dark web stuff. Everything leaves a money trail.

Yes, it does seem kind of similar to the Gret Glyer story. Perhaps the male victim had some kind of infatuation with the au pair or the wife.

This seems to be the most likely. I’m betting he was infatuated with the wife, since he stabbed her and left the Au pair unharmed. His age suggests he could be an ex boyfriend. Interestingly though, the husband didn’t know him… you’d think if he was acquainted with the wife, he would be on the husband’s radar. No forced entry, hmmmm

No forced entry can mean many things. Maybe Christine answered the door and didn't look before opening it, and Joseph barged in. Maybe he posed as a handyman who was answering a house call.

That's just it. Mentally unstable stalkers, when they are called out on their actions - do not respond: "you are correct! I AM mentally unstable and I am stalking that person!" instead, they try to play it off as "joking", because they try to skirt legal ramifications, especially if they have been in legal trouble before - they know the loopholes to keep doing what they are doing, and they intend every bad action that they do - they just do not admit to it. It truly is terrifying, but sometimes, gullible people believe their mask - and they are just as much at fault for enabling the behavior. There is no "joke", ther is NOTHING funny about stalking. The stalker denies doing the stalking, by nature - and people need to not enable, and not endanger other people.
