The White Lotus season 2

Also when Harper was talking about being from Puerto Rico, and the other couple fake-said they should go, she said "You could stay with my family in San Juan." Maybe her family is super rich.

Harper's husband is newly rich. He just sold his business.

Make no mistake the aloha, bad boy is getting her hot and she becomes more critical and frustrated by her nice beta husband.

Harper needs push-back. She wants someone to stand up to her, create the sexual tension. She's not fulfilled by her nice husband. She's bored.

The bad boy is pushing her buttons and raising her libido. She literally looks like she was going to leave the breakfast table and rub one out after watching the other couple--but then they joined her on the walk back.

And that was after watching him go big dog Alpha on the phone call, swearing and yelling. Harper loved that.

I didn't get this vibe at all, but admittedly I am a stereotypical millennial who is doing 3 other things online (like reading DCUM) while watching a show. Now I'm going to re-watch and see if I pick up on this perspective.

I didn't get that vibe either. And if so, kind of gross that someone going off on a customer service agent would be a turn on.

Agreed that it is specifically set up to be either thing. Why make the illness suddenly disappear at the start of season 2 if they aren't going to do something with that? Either scam in the first place or the illness is back.

They did say that they came into the money when Ethan sold his company. They also said they help her family out. Harper suggesting they stay with her family was a bit of a tease/challenge. They talk about staying at Aman resorts and all the beautiful places they go. Then they would try Puerto Rico. Harper was kind of daring them to slum it with her family.

You should! FYi all the beach scenes so far were shot in Cefalu, not Taormina. The beach in Taormina is very pebbly and the ocean is rougher there.

Cefalu and Taormina are IMO the prettiest places in Sicily. Spent three years living there and miss it every day!

+1, it's come up several times, and they've also talked about how they are newly rich and are unsure how to spend their money yet. In Episode 2, Harper and Ethan also had an exchange about whether the Theo James character talks down to him or something, and Ethan said something like "not anymore" and Harper asked if that's what the trip was about, being able to show his rich friend up a bit now that Ethan has had this major professional success and has real money. Ethan said no but the implication was that there might be something to that.

And Harper has talked about how she's worried this money is going to change Ethan, or them. She's clearly very uncomfortable with wealth at this point. Likely she has spent most of her adult life looking down on rich people. She's a lawyer and if she went to a "top" law school, she likely came into a lot of contact with people from very wealthy backgrounds. But she want into a public interest area. She probably structures a lot of her identity around being willing to sacrifice for her values and being unlike very rich people who she associates with the kind of harassment or abuse that it's her job to combat.

Ever lose your only luggage for an exotic nice trip or cruise and have some idiot send it back to your home address instead of finally destination? I’d be libidos $50 for clothes covers nothing.

Interesting choice of “Daphne” as a name. This is a character in Greco-Roman mythology.

Facing a potential rape at the hands of Apollo, Daphne permanently undergoes metamorphosis. She begs Zeus to allow her to give up her feminine human form & voice to become an inanimate laurel tree. This metamorphosis protects her from rape, but at the expense of her body and permanent silence.

As others have stated, I am getting the sense that Harper is sort of into Cameron's attention. She looked very pretty and was obviously wearing more make up than any other scene at dinner....she is making an effort for the first time in the series....

That is interesting. Paired with her imagery from the opening credits, it seems like there's more to her story:

DP: two children that represent her motherhood? Or perhaps doing whatever it takes to protect them.
