I think you need to get your eyes checked. |
Why are they ranked? Is that meaningful? |
No. OP probably just went in the order of US News and checked whether each school had a dedicated recruiting page or redirected to the generic non-target "other schools" page |
It’s a great stepping stone. Work with incredibly talented people, have a prominent and selective firm on your resume, pay off debt, learn about a lot of different industries, and then move on. |
The secret is out! |
ND is at #9 for Non-Ivy PP |
Why the hell are BYU and Howard on here... even BU and Wake are questionable |
It isn't like they are going to hire many people this year anyway! These are part of a basic recruiting site and don't even reflect interview numbers or number of people hired. Don't encourage your kids to join McKinsey. Their reputation has taken a hit. If they want $$, look at finance and hedge funds, and if they want quality of life and reach, look at a tech. Consulting is a stepping stone but execs and politicians have been distancing themselves more and more from their previous employers for a reason. That was before "the book" came out too. |
BYU and Howard are very good schools. Shouldn't top companies be intentionally casting a wide net to get great employees? They no longer want to focus so much on places like HYPS. This expansion of new grad recruiting is happening in banking and big tech too. |
Banking is no longer elite. Elite jobs in finance are all on the buy-side, i.e. PE, hedge funds, and high-frequency trading firms (which are even more explicit with their target schools and have dropdown menus: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1098719.page). PE straight out of undergrad has been becoming more common recently. |
Many in tech will be cannibalized by AI... the current layoffs are being used for tech companies to cover up for cutting projects that they would have otherwise cut a long time ago |
Half the applicants admitted to Howard University have an SAT score between 1080 and 1290 or an ACT score of 21 and 26. |
BYU is a cult. |
Not sure why anyone would want to work at McKinsey |
Money. Perceived status to a small number of people. Money. And money. |
