McKinsey recruiting primarily for their tech roles from a CS-focused school like Northeastern is NOT the same as recruiting from target school for their consulting positions.

Not that McKinsey is a desirable or ethical company to work for, but please, lets stop the Northeastern circle jerk for now. Northeastern's fine and good and great, but it's not an MBB consulting target school.

go to this page and type in a school. They all have the same info, just a different school name.

VT, South Carolina, St Louis University, University of Iowa all have recruitment pages on McKinsey's website.

Northeastern is not special in this regard.

the above link analysed all of the MBB consultants on Linkedin from 2014-2020. Northeastern isn't even top 30. Meaning below the likes of BYU, UIUC. I imagine they have a recruitment website from McKinsey so McKinsey can recruit for their tech, data, IT roles, as that aligns with Northeastern's focus. Northeastern MBA is even less of an MBB consulting target than Northeastern undergrad.

BYU and Howard are very good schools. Shouldn't top companies be intentionally casting a wide net to get great employees? They no longer want to focus so much on places like HYPS. This expansion of new grad recruiting is happening in banking and big tech too.
