They did walk over border, then to evade processing time for in the truck to their desired next destination. Truck was never checked thereafter and broke down. Better luck next time.

The only leader that has taken accountability is Nayib Bukele of El Salvador who stepped up after that horrible accident where the father and his daughter drowned in the Rio Grande trying to cross. Bukele made it a point to say publicly that El Salvador is at fault for driving them to migrate.

Of course not! Illegal immigrants’ remittances to Northern Triangle tally $5-6 billion a year, and comprise half of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua’s “GDP!” And funds more chain migration of more illegal economic migrants. So they afford the coyote escort and truck transport during the multi-country journey to america.

Companies not hiring illegal workforce would be another deterrent but it seems like there’s too much interest in cheap labor.
Landlords will also rent for cash…
So I think schools are the only real way

Maybe, but I’m not sure it would work. The undocumented immigrants in our neighborhood have a pretty laid-back approach to school.

More likely, what would happen, is that the parents would keep the kids home from school. And use the older kids to watch the younger ones while they work, or get the kids involved in jobs young.

The kids are already victims (no choice - parents bring them here because the parents want to make more money). Keeping them out of school will make their situation even worse.

Crack down on employers. Crack down on illegal rentals. Quit offering free food/healthcare/backpacks/clothes/laptops/language lessons to every single undocumented immigrant adult and child. But don’t keep the kids out of schools.

Plus they’re undocumented and have no Id. They don’t even state their actual ages. The younger you claim the more free stuff you get at public school and other welfare programs.

I'm sure you recognize all these countries want their people to leave, especially these people. They get rid of burdens associated with those people and benefit from remittances. Why would they feel shame? They love this.

What social welfare benefits do you think people who don't have status in the US are getting?

Free education for their children for one.

It just emboldens illegal aliens to keep coming and keep taking risks that end up killing people. Shame on Biden and the Democrats for failing to understand the basic concept of moral hazard.

This, exactly. It is horrendous. And, a dereliction of duty.
Wonder if we will see AOC complaining about the cruelty. /s

The death count for this single incident is now 53 - and it includes teenagers. Horrible.

Really nice to see so many republicans concerned about the welfare of illegal immigrants. So genuine.

The only solution to this is for their Trump-loving employers (contractors, factory owners, regular rich people, Trump himself) to stop employing them. But that won't happen.

What is Governor Abbott doing in Texas? Texas seems to be a safe are for trackers. This truck was only found because it was abandoned on a hot day. If the weather had been better no one in Texas would be the wiser.

Abbott is so f’ing incompetent.

I completely agree. He made big publicity about pulling Texas Rangers and assigning them to the border and they let this happen. He assumed the responsibility so it rests on him.

Hmmm so is the argument now that we should increase militarization on the border to ensure people can't cross and have this happen again?

They do just walk across the border….have you not been paying attention? Others are victims of the cartels engaging in human trafficking.

This. They absolutely do try to just walk across the border. And they die doing so.

Remember this story about the 6yo girl who died when her mom went to find water? Tragic.

Liar. The truck passed through a border patrol checkpoint north of Laredo earlier in the day before it was found. https://www.wmtw.com/article/dozens-found-dead-in-back-tractor-trailer/40438710#
