Very not good. Seems to suggest that the current situation is untenable. But what is the solution? Close the border? Or throw it wide open? I don’t really see any other options.

Horrific.

Could you imagine being locked in that trailer? In the heat. Imagine the smells and the frantic clawing at trying to get out.

Do they lock the doors to these trucks? Why not call the police for assistance with a smartphone?

I guess we need to issue smart phones to people in South America.

This happens all the time. I grew up along the border. This has been happening since the 80s. But now that NAFTA has been renegotiated and we are reshoring industry. It will likely scale back.

This is horrendous.

It is what happens when we have a president who refuses to secure the border and enforce our border laws.

Few people realize that more migrants died trying to enter our country during Biden's first year than under Obama or Trump. And, his second year is likely to be even worse.

Over 650 migrants died at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021, as of the most recent data posted in a Wednesday report by the International Organization for Migration's Missing Migrants Project.

650 Die at Border in First Year of Biden, 24 Percent More Than Peak Under Trump, Obama

This figure represents a 24 percent jump from the previous high of 524 posted in 2019, prior to the pandemic, under then-President Donald Trump. Furthermore, this number represents a steeper jump than the figures reported over the last three years of the Obama administration when a high of 412 was reported in 2016, representing a 58 percent change.

In the first year of his presidency, Joe Biden has overseen a continued surge of migration at the Southwest border that rose each month of his tenure from the end of January 2021 up until July 2021.

This is horrible. I feel for these people and their families. Crossing border illegally shouldn't be encouraged but unfortunately it is a big business on the border to bring people over like this.

Sorry no. This happens when people lose faith in their countries and want to flee to one that appears to be working. But I realize you’re here to parrot Fox and conservative hate towards immigrants. This scenario happens all the time but the news selectively reports on it. If you lived along the border you would know this.

PP, tell me more about NAFTA. What industries are re-shorig and does it affect employment down south?

The fact that people have to be smuggled in instead of just walking over the border should make it obvious that our borders are not open or as permeable as they were.

The right lives to have it both ways...migrants walk over for asylum: open border! They get smuggled in: open borders!

Dear God we live in Idiocracy

The solution is to crack down on employers and social welfare benefits. All contact with any level of government should require proof of citizenship or residency. If you take away the ability to easily work and live without documents, a lot of this goes away.

What social welfare benefits do you think people who don't have status in the US are getting?

This is exactly what other countries do.

yes, no one gets freebies and use all the social facilities contributed by taxpayers. On the other hand, the undocumented workers go through tons of human rights issues while doing all this. Not good for anyone as a society. Why don't we stop the employing undocumented workers but issue about 1M or more of labor visa for workers and their families. They pay taxes, we screen out the criminals and the human rights are well protected.
