So you own a cheap house now or have rent stabilized housing? Otherwise if you are paying market rent life will end poorly for you as inflation rages |
Poor Tink Tink

Huntsville is slightly better but schools are still terrible by DC area standards, you would be in the absolute heart of the Bible Belt, so you need to be Christian or find your friend list extremely limited, and it’s terrible if you are POC. Healthcare is awful, especially for women. |

We located a STEM catholic school. And the population there is quite educated. And with my blue vote, hoping living there and advocating, I can help make a difference. That's another thread though. |
If you grew up poor then what TF are you whining about? Go away. |
Thousands of people also send their children to schools in PGC! |
You should be able to find plenty of cheaper homes in that range. What on earth are you talking about? You can get a decent size lot out there easily for the range you want. You must not be looking very hard. You made it sound like you want that in dc or inside the beltway |
I don't think OP actually knows what a half acre is. |
+1 if you meant rural VA you should have said so. |
Chantilly isn’t rural Va, but definitely suburbia. |
We live in Herndon and there are houses available for $800,00 with yards, maybe not 1/2 an acre. There are properties available out this way that would suit your needs. You are being too picky. |
| I mean if you want to move just say that and go OP. |
The half acre is the issue, just did a redfin search for .5 acre and there's nothing, but switched filter to .25 acre and there's options. The yards still appear plenty large with the home not crowded in by a nearby neighbor. Not sure why the hangup with a half acre, perhaps check out some with a slightly smaller lot footprint? One example: https://www.redfin.com/VA/Centreville/15409-Martins-Hundred-Dr-20120/home/9571544 A half acre is spreading homes apart to a "rural" level; homes in suburbia are closer apart than this and generally have been unless you're going realllly far back. The house I grew up in in suburbia CT were closer to other homes than this in the 80s (but not in the 50s when my parents bought it before the area got built up). The house my DH grew up in in suburbia NJ was closer to other homes than this, but again, some of the neighbor homes weren't there back in the 60/70s's when his parents bought it and filled in over time. |
