You'll cerntanly get a good job with a CS degree especailly from a top school like Notre Dame.
No need to go to a over-crowded public school with cutthroat competitiveness.

So Notre Dame for any major.

and choosing UVA over Notre Dame for any major is just a flat non-sense.

Not if you are in-state and not Catholic. What about ND ranking only 285 globally did you miss? UVA got my kid into Cambridge for grad work. There are a lot of UVA students at Oxbridge

Some might choose UVA if paying significantly lesss for in-state tuition and/or wanting to stay close to mommy.
My kid got in both Notre Dame and UVA. Not even a second thought just like most people.

those 21% are the ones paying in-state and/or wanting to stay close to mommy.

Only if Catholic. It would never occur to in-state Virginians to even apply to ND. Why?

Why? ND is a step up, and UVA is boring as hell with like 70% Virginians??

ND booster is clueless.

Berkeley is one of the big 4 for CS. It's one of the best CS schools in the world.

Totally agree. Berkeley is world class for CS, among many other areas. ND isn’t in its league.

LOL Berkeley has been seriously overcrowded and students can't even register for the necessary classes.
Imagine the student service quality.
Now the court ordered to cut down thousands of students.
So much for the world class LMAO. People have no clue.

As opposed to going to a school with majority white midwestern Catholics? Ha ha.

Where did OP say the ranking is for CS?

The UVA hype on this site is outrageous. Globally UVA isn't even ranked top 200.
Anonymous
This is clearly a ridiculous discussion. I don’t know on what basis anyone here is “ranking” any of these schools or why - or even what this ranking means. What is even the point of ranking schools. To rank order anything statistically, there need to be criteria for that ranking. The OP didn’t provide any, so the rankings are meaningless.

This group of schools are so disparate that to even put them on the same list is absurd. They have different missions and are trying to do different things, so it doesn’t make any sense to claim that one is better than another is some sort of general sense.

Sorry, but I just had to get that off my chest. I feel better already.

I’m hiring a lot of people right now. I’m not concerned about where they went to school as long as they have a degree and it is not a diploma mill. What did they do in school? Are they a team player and not an arrogant jerk? Can they demonstrate they have the skills I need? That’s what I am concerned about, not silly rankings. Any of these schools are fine and turn out good students.

Notre Dame ranking at QS

Notre Dame #183

I wouldn’t be bragging too much about ND either. Both schools are not heavily hitters internationally.

We are much more interested in the Undergraduate ranking. We'll worry about Graduate stuff some other time somewhere else.

The fact is that Notre Dame is the only solid T20 school from the list by the de facto official ranking = USN&WR.

Enough already.
