So he claims. But he refused to ask for it to be released.

I'll be you $20 he asked the Chamber to not release the video. I practically guarantee it.

But he isn’t blocking it?

Be clear.

That guy is either completely out of touch or just tries to appease the special interest in front of him. Someone must be screaming loudly about ice hockey but really, I expect someone running for council to recognize that this is not a district wide issue.

Shouldn’t a council member be concerned about and represent their ward’s particular interests? He’s not running for the at-large seat.

I’m pretty sure there a small but growing hockey parent constituency in Ward 3 that don’t want to schlep all the way to Montgomery County for ice time. Couldn’t be more than a few hundred votes but surely nearly all of them live in Ward 3.

In the Education forum he seemed the only adult in the room who could acknowledge that Ward 3 schools are overcrowded now because of the successful policies over the past 2 decades. There's room for improvement, but its a mistake to just throw out mayorial control of schools without fully understanding the alternative (which in the past has really produced terrible results).

Having observed DCPS for over two decades I would disagree with the causality. School enrollment has more to do with demographics. There have been a ton of blunders in the mayoral-control era, it's just that the kids keep arriving faster than DCPS can drive them away.

"All the way to Montgomery County?" But isn't he talking about a new rink over by RFK? You could drive to Germantown in the time it takes to get to RFK at rush hour.

I know he declined joining his colleagues in sending a letter to the Chamber of Commerce asking for the video to be released as promised by the Chamber on May 11th.
I know that he says he is not opposed to the Chamber releasing the video.

I am confident but do not know that he separately and privately asked the Chamber to not release the video.

Yes, I want a council member to be concerned about the actual needs of a sizable number of constituents who live in Ward 3, not the special interest of a handful of families who are tired of driving their kids to an extra curricular activity that they chose for their kids knowing that there was no ice rink in ward 3.

School overcrowding, pre-K seats, safety, homeless people, development, bike lanes - there are so many real issues that will affect a significant number of Ward 3 residents. If Frumin can't hear how ridiculous he sounds to the vast majority of Ward 3 residents when he talks ice hockey rink then he is really unqualified for this seat.

Great, but that’s looking out for W3. PP wanted the W3 council member to look out for the whole city. That’s why we have at-large members.

An ice rink would be an asset. As the parent of a DCPS high school student, I think it’s really important that kids have an outlet for their energy that also allows social interaction and teamwork. So yes, I think it’s a really good idea.

Agree as another Ward 3 parent. Teenagers need places to go and socialize. Would be a great addition.

Frumin talked about both supporting ft Dupont and also bring a sheet of ice to Friendship Heights. It is on his website and has been since a couple of months ago.

He didn't sign on to the letter that asked for the release. He posted his own clip which provides neither the question being asked, nor the responses of the other candidates. See the other thread about this. The man has no business running for office, much less being on the public payroll.

Any place in Ward 3 big enough for an ice rink would be better utilized as a new public school.

Frumin's ice rink support should be a red flag for anyone who wants affordable housing in Ward 3
