Although I am voting for Frumin I met all of the candidates. Monte was by FAR the worst. She's a "can't do" candidate. BTW throw it back at you. Has Monte ever gotten involved in Ward 3 issues? What are some of her accomplishments or successes that make her a great candidate? What were some of her great ideas in the campaign? Ho A |
It's your vote. Why don't you do some research on her. I've already made my decision. If I get too specific I'll tip off who I am and I prefer to be anonymous |
Did she donate to Mike Pence in 2012? No? Then she isn't like Monte. |
Your party tribalism is childish. Thankfully we have party leaders like Nancy Pelosi who are smarter and more broad minded than you are. |
There is no way for me to do research on your specific claim. You will need to provide more information that would allow others to understand the situation. Otherwise, it looks like you are just defaming someone who lives in your community because they have the temerity to run against your favored candidate. Which does not seem very ethical to me. |
What is going on with this? Any cites? We have heard this and have friends on W (block south of Benton) who have not but are now concerned. |
What is going on is that a very few NIMBYs in Foxhall are deliberately spreading misinformation to whip up opposition against the school. DCPS have very clearly stated that no decisions have been made regarding the school boundaries. Yet some people continue to insist otherwise for their own vested interests. You should encourage your friends to go to the source rather than buy into hearsay. People want to assume that their neighbors are looking out for them, but some of the loudest people in the community are doing anything but. |
Take the time to meet her and talk to her. |
Fwiw, it is fairly standard practice for lobbyists to make contributions to many politicians on both sides of the aisle. A $200 contribution to Pence in that context does not make her a Pence supporter. Not disqualifying to me. I really care much more about where a candidate stands: on tax policy, business regulation, housing, crime. Monte is a centrist, which I realize some see as far right in the context of DC politics. I'm not planning to vote for her, just reacting to all the knee-jerk negativity I'm finding in these discussions, primarily from the supporters of progressive candidates. It is very much hardening me in my own more-centrist views. |

Monte Monash gave $200 to Mike Pence on 6-29-2012

Honestly, from a strategic point of view, it make sense for the more moderate republicans to run in the dem primary, especially if there are dozens of others splitting the centrist and liberal votes. The center has Thomas/Goulet/Brown, the center-left consolidated around Frumin and the progressive-left still has Finley. Honestly, I was surprised at the center-left consolidating around Frumin, but I guess Duncan annoyed too many NIMBYs and Bergmann was just too new to the scene to get traction. Though they may have done this too late to matter. Using 2018 as a baseline, we're about 30-40% of turnout. |
There was an example map, that was 'walked' back. But this is DCPS central planning under Mayoral control (so Bowser). They'll just use a variant of that map again. Anyone who expects more of DCPS planning is a bit delusional. A vote for Boswer is a vote for that school plan. |
Thanks putting the right word on this. Defaming. That’s why l don’t have the stomach to run for office. |

This is the Glover Park/Stoddert view of the situation:

I agree. I am really repulsed by the antics of these hard left (and almost entirely white) DC progressives, which makes me more inclined to oppose them and support candidates that seek to build bridges and find compromises. I refuse to be associated with people who behave like this. |
