Youngkin supporters - do you think racism still exists in VA today?

I don't vote anymore in this corrupt system of rich crybabies catering to megacorporations, but if I did vote there would be about 10 issues of major concern to me. Racism is one of them. But then you tell me my taxes as a UMC hardworking person are going up by $25k (this is the amount Trump personally cut my taxes a few years ago), asians get the short end of the stick in pretty much any previously meritocracy-based system, we're not going to prosecute crimes or enforce sentences for violent offenders, etc. etc. If you're making me choose between my family's financial wellbeing, education, and safety versus some abstract concept of "ending racism," ending racism is losing every time. Sorry.

I can understand that.

Would you willingly make small sacrifices for your family if that would help others?

Would it matter if it’s helping to end racism against Asians?

Overt racism?
Racial biases?
Systemic racism?

Sure it does. All of the above. So what is your point. CRT says that everything is racism or the result of that. That's just false. Racism can exist and not be the cause of all of the wrongs in the world.

So racism is the cause of some of the wrongs though, right?

Do you think we should try to prevent those wrongs?

Sure. We should try to do so. Not sure I get your point.

Thanks.

On another thread we were discussing if people are willing to acknowledge that racism is a problem and if it should be addressed.

I make small sacrifices every day to help others. increasing my tax bill by the cost of a honda civic is not a small sacrifice

I'm not reading through this entire thread. Yes, racism exists. It will always exist. I don't think government is the answer to that beyond basic anti-discrimination laws. Also as a middle class resident of Nova (family of 4 in apartment with one car, having to live frugally), the idea that my POC friends and acquaintances, almost all of whom are homeowners with multiple cars and no financial worries, need some sort of helping hand is ridiculous. Any financial help should be provided on the basis of socioeconomic status, not race.

What should happen is that any white politician that thinks more needs to be done to combat racism should immediately resign and give their position to a POC. Actions, not words.

Yes I know this is not how it works, but you get my point. Lots of hypocrisy out there.

Also Virginia Democrats: Let's cast these two qualified Black women aside and nominate the retread White guy for Governor!

+1
This is quite honestly one of the stupidest threads I've ever wasted time on. The OP and her inane questions is beyond annoying.

I would like to know the exact definition of "ending racism." What are the metrics and parameters we're looking at here? When will "racism" be officially "ended" as agreed on by everyone?
