What do you secretly eat disgustingly when you're home alone

Anonymous
Stouffers frozen meat lasagna (that was what I ate as a kid on babysitter nights)

Popcorn with lots of butter and salt

This mixture I make that I’ve convinced myself is semi healthy - cooked rice, can of stewed tomatoes, broccoli and a ton of shredded cheese melted on top

+1. Ever so often, when lactose-free hubby is out, the kids and I splurge on a party size. That, garlic bread and a salad is comfort food heaven!

Pimento cheese from Cheesetique

I get instacart to deliver chocolate croissants, cranberry and orange mini scones, sour creme and onion chips with Lipton onion soup mix to combine with sour cream.

Dinner? naw. I'm not hungry. You guys just grab leftovers from the fridge.

Yum!!!!

A very specific lunch when I’m alone:

Wampler chicken salad (from Giant deli) on white bread, regular/plain Pringles, sweet tea.

Here’s my take on the Parmesan controversy—if you prefer the green can stuff, that’s cool. But if you prefer the stuff from a block, it’s just as easy—those blocks stay good forever in the fridge and it takes less time to powder grate it with a boxed grater than it does the shake the Kraft stuff out of the can (where it always clumps despite the anti cake chemical). We grew up with the green can in the 70s and I think switching to the solid block was probably one of the life changing food moments of my life. I put it on everything.
PS for those who like the buttered pasta, try getting your hands on some pastina—the butter to pasta ratio is greatly increased and it’s next level carb/fat combo.

This thread is making me want some of that onion dip with the ruffles ridged chips.

Gross! I make my dip from scratch and would never touch store-bought potato chips.

See how that works, pp?

I specifically said it was cool if you like the green can!! Just pointing out that it’s not actually a real time or money saver at this point, so one should only do it if one prefers green can to block (the way I prefer skippy to natural PB). Not sure why you had to snark back about making your own potato chips, so, no, in this context, I don’t see how that comparison works. Making one’s own potato chips is significantly more time consuming and challenging than purchasing a bag of Ruffles. (PS I just had the home-made chips at Fiola Mare this week and they are not nearly as goof as Ruffles.)

I am SO glad you wrote this!!! I have looked damned near everywhere for mint Brussels (they used to be available year round), and now I know to stock up as soon as the holiday stuff comes out. Yeeeeessssssss.

My things are:

Snyder’s honey mustard and onion pretzel pieces. I can eat an entire bag in one sitting.

Ruffles with onion dip and white wine. For some reason, there must be wine. My college roommate and I lived off of that combo.

I do crackers, cream cheese and smoked oysters.

I’m dairy-free otherwise I’d totally try that
