Lack of a Plan Says It All

None of the JKLM schools are there...this is DCUM. This isn’t relevant unless it has those

Nevermind. I see DCPS is just one plan as a whole. That is ridiculous. Everyone knows schools are going to differ. But looking at this raises another interesting thing Inhad not considered - NAPS! Thankfully, my children are no longer in PK so won’t have that issue but in addition to lunch, you are going to have unmasked mandatory nap periods for PK3 and PK4!

You know what's been happening for the past year? Kids in daycares taking naps. Without masks. Those of us who have had our kids in those situations are perhaps less worried than you.

I’m actually not worried, as I don’t have a kid that age. And I’m generally not worried about sending back my kids- I’m in the “have to be back full-time, no asymptomatic testing, and limit all quarantines as much as possible” camp

- What's the quarantine policy for vaxxed & non-vaxxed kids?
- What's the education approach during quarantine?
- What's the status of requiring vaccines for school staff?
- What's the plan for minimizing contact (lunch, restrooms, between periods, etc.)

These are basics. DCPS issues so many comms on everything EXCEPT Covid. If we heard that they were even formulating a reasonable plan, it would really boost confidence in their competence.

Have you written to your school's admin with these questions?

Which school

Lafayette

Really? From their website:
On Sunday, August 8th I will be sending out our official welcome back email with a full list of our COVID protocols, as well as class lists, signups for room parents, the school year calendar of events, and other exciting information! Be on the lookout for that email!

I know it’s the 8th….. but I didn’t get that email yet. I suspect trolling.

Click on the link to the entire message, lol.

She explicitly said no instruction for quarantine.

Wow that is a powerful incentive to opt out of random asymptomatic testing.

I am not the PP, but we asked pretty much these same questions of our school admin. They passed our questions on to main DCPS, who never answered.

That same email/website post says no virtual education during quarantine. But it does say quarantine during travel, so maybe quarantine at other times will be different.

Perhaps I am not seeing what you refer to, but I see this "As a note, there is no virtual instruction available for students who are quarantining due to travel." which means, if you choose to travel and then you have to quarantine because of it, we will not be providing virtual instruction for that. It does not say that classes that have to quarantine will not get virtual instruction. Unless I missed that somewhere.

Exactly. So my kid who happens to be in a class with someone else who tests positive (and likely gets a false positive, because math) has to stay home for 10 days? With no instruction? Through no fault of my own? I can follow all of the rules and this still happens? And this is likely to happen more with more asymptomatic testing? No thanks.

It says "As a note, there is no virtual instruction available for students who are quarantining due to travel."

That is not the same for positive cases. You guys either have poor reading comprehension, or are being purposely obtuse in order to troll.

How do they know whether a person is quarantining because of travel or exposure. Jeez it's almost as if all of yall travel police dont think things through.

Because kids have big mouths and tell people when they’re traveling.

What happens if you have an exposure when traveling?

You know there's going to be a riot if this happens right? What do you think the response to a two week suspension plus a visit from CPS will be? This is way outside of the principal's.powers and is extremely punitive and controlling. There's no difference between a travel quarantine and an exposure quarantine. The whole theory behind a travel quarantine is that it's an automatic exposure quarantine.

Disprate treatment, punitive respone that results in additional consequences, blah blah blah. Open and shut case. Stupid stupid power trip move.
